Hey. I know there have been problems with some CVT people, but if I get this I would be getting an automatic.

I have heard of some minor problems and that is alright to have. I would just like to know what exactly are those minor problems and if they are important at all.

So anything, from rattling, to the whole car falling apart (probably unlikely).

I hope I articulated this topic well enough, so please respond with your experience even if you haven't had any problems.

Thanks a lot in advance to poeple who respond to this topic

Welcome to MCO.
I have an 02 MCS which I picked up July 2nd 2002, and havent had one problem with the transmition yet. I have had one minor problem that was fixed, and is already fixed on the 03's.

Got a MC 5spd April 2002
July 4th - Transcable Linkage "popped" off....
2 months later... happened again...
Took it in prior to the recall....
They replaced the cable with a longer one that fit... AND added the recall required clip.
A couple months later... Passenger Window was inactive... replaced window motor.
Most recently.. within the last month... Clutch Gone...
Burnt out from way back when the TransCable "popped" off.
took 9 days to fix...
Was initially diagnosed as a failed tranny.... My Mini was not alone.. several others had been towed in for the same problem... transmission failures... replacing a tranny = nearly 15+ Hours at $95 per hour BTW....
4 days after initial diagnosis, was rediagnosed as a burnt clutch... Declared "Outside Influence" and not covered by warranty so I was blamed for ruining it... Until we "re-introduced" them to their failed transcable, and let them know our lawyer was contacted... then we were eagerly told it was "covered by warranty"

So far... driven it just under 100 miles since return from repairs and ZERO problems!

So to date total miles on Mini 16K 13months old

Pickup our 03 MCS in Oct. and was trouble free until last week when the fan fuse blew sitting in rush hour traffic on I-84.
I had to turn up the heater full blast with our 10 week old baby in the car.
The dealer replaced the relay too just to be on the safe side.

Seven months with 4000 miles on the clock and counting....
