I found this info on Roadfly:

The MINI ranks among the brands that are expected to hold their resale value best: $12,078 after 3 years vs. a current asking price of $19,800, the best in compact category."

I guess you have to weigh the cost difference of having a car under warrenty for its first 4 years, a known history of the car, and just try and find a used MINI!!!!!!!
