Last week, 2600 mile round trip from AZ to OR to AZ and we only saw 3 MINIs motoring. One on the I-505 in CA, one in downtown Las Vegas and one in Oregon on the I-5

Well I'm glad there aren't that many MINIs out there then. The fact that people remember a certain number or range per day, week, month or whatever is indication of that. Even though MINI owners are probably more attuned to spotting other MINIs, try counting the number of Corollas or New Beetles or Explorers you see each day. Before too long, you will probably lose count and still have missed at least 50 percent of them. The perception might be that they are common or becoming common, but everything's relative. They're not common to me, and I live in a fairly compact and commuter-heavy area. I probably see 6 to 8 a week and every time I see one I get amped up.

 

It's the funniest thing... I'm due for mine this week (MCS CR/W) and I NEVER see any around here. I'm in Milwaukee. Drove up to see my brother in a smaller town near Green Bay and, BAM, I saw two during my stay! Then, just today, I drove about 4 blocks from my house and what do I see in someone's driveway but a MCS CR/W (with 17" tires just like I ordered to boot)! I had a fleeting thought to screech to a halt and check the VIN#. "Hey, are you sure that doesn't belong to me, sir?" I was due for mine 5/12 and while my patience is being majorly tested, I just checked the MINIUSA site and my EDD just changed to 5/28! Am feeling much better - I'm sure seeing the other MINI was a good omen.... NUMMYTIME

 

I've got a neighbor about 4 blocks away that has a babyblue one parked in the driveway all the time, so I can't count that.

This past weekend took a drive "teeking" and went down some remote country roads (to avoid the other mess that was going on the in DC area!). I saw no other Minis at all.

At one antique store in Sperryville, VA someone asked, "What is it?" when he saw the Mini. This town has like oh...100 population? So it was a new experience for that area to see a Mini.

I didn't see another Mini till I got home and a yellow one passed me at a stop light.

Had an appointment in Alexandria on Tuesday and another Red Mini tooted.

BTW, ALL MINI OWNERS I HAVE RUN ACROSS WAVE OR TOOT!!!
