R50/53 How often do you see MINI's?
Austin,
be glad you rarely see one. I used to be in a car that would make people stop and stare. Nowadays everyone has one and people stop and stare if they see any other car but a mini.
Pipe and a pancake??

>>Up until this spring (since about early March), I saw maybe 2 or 3 a month. Lately though, I've been seeing as many as 2 or 3 A DAY on local roads and out on the highway. >>
>>If I was one of those people who feel that exclusivity is an essential quality of MINI ownership, I'd be worried... Fortunately, I'm not.
Ditto for me in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Another new dealership opened in Arlington, TX (...where I live) this spring and now MINIs are showing up all over the place. I expect there will be many more, too, based on people's general reaction to the car. Also, ditto on the not worried about excusivity thing.(...well, maybe I'm a little worried.

Hello All...My first post - I am mostly a lurker to message boards!
However, had to post to this...I got my MINI in November (2002 MCS, Name: Lola (she's a he!) Chili Red, White Roof). Before I purchased, I used to work close to a MINI dealer (the only one in the area at the time - well, still the only one!) and saw at least 2 MINI's a day (our office was on the test drive route). After purchase, between November and early this month, I saw a total of 3 Mini's through out my journeys (mostly outside a 30 mile radius of my home and not including my father-in-law's).
All of a sudden, starting last week, I have had at least 1 MINI sighting a day! Appears that there are two new MINI's to the neighborhood, and I see one or the other either in the morning on the way to work, or on the way home in the evening! Both are MCO...Lola is still the only MCS in the area it seems!
However, no response from either MINI owner to the waves or blinking!! Lola is very friendly, doesn't bite...likes to make friends! I guess they just haven't read the owner manual as of yet!
It's great to have a MINI! Couldn't imagine life without one! But can imagine life with MORE than one!

>>^ ^ Seriously....my commute is from Alexandria, VA to Baltimore, MD. No wonder I see so many.
I commute into Georgetown and I usually see 2-3 a day. There are some days when I goose-egg but most days I get a couple. On Sunday I had a IB/W MCS next to me at a light which was cool since that is almost the exact same setup I am getting in September. Then I saw a silk green with racing stripes yesterday. Looked great.

See 2-3 a week, and on the very rare occasion have seen up to 4 in 1 day. Saw 90+ last Sunday at the AWESOME Indianapolis, IN to Nashville, IN MINI Spring Rally. Imagine those 90+ pulling into a small country town with a population of 34...... Let me put in your mind what was going thru their minds. "What in THE h**l are all of them cars!? Sure do look weird."
I've been seeing more and more in the San Diego area. Most other owners don't acknowledge a thumbs up or a flash of the lights <sigh>. Usually I'll go for days without seeing one (except Peanut), and then I'll see 2 or 3 in one day. There was one day a couple weeks ago when I saw 5 different MINIs within about 2 hours!
I usually see about 4 to 5 minis a week with half of them being really new (temporary license plates).
The more urban the area the easier they are to find.
They are easy to spot in a crowd.

There are now 3 in my town, which I see nearly every day.
The interesting part is the varied demographic.
1. a less that friendly woman in a pepper white cooper who never waves back when we pass each other. say her mid 30's
2. a great young dude ...20 tops...indi blue mcs...who does everything but stand on the bonnet to wave whenever we pass...
3. and me...50 something...ps mcs.... who's driving his midlife crisis car
LI has a big population of mini's nowadays...and it's rare i don't see one on the roads ....
peace,
d

>>It was CR/W day! Weird, since the most common color around Mexico City seems to be Silver/Black
Same in Guadalajara, the common colors are silver, dark silver, electric blue. After 10 days of driving my CR/W MCS I saw another CR/W MCS (its a rare color here)
