Production time (How Long??)

Greetings....

I just ordered (on January 10th, 2007) my second MINI.

The first time around, the MINI I wanted was already "on the boat" and I took delivery in 4 days....this time around.....I ordered from Scratch...

Can anyone tell me an average production time or tell me your experiences? (My MA has gone back and forth, saying from "4 weeks" to "7 weeks").

How long once it goes from "on order" to "in production?" How long "production" takes? How long does shipping it across the "pond" take??

I am, of course, on pins and needles, dreaming about my new whip, and the upcoming "break in and mod-it" period (already got my mods lined up).

Any help is appreciated.

New MINI: Hot Orange MCSC, Sport, LSD, Winter, Premium, Webspokes, HO interior (and shift ****), ......ok.......I just salivated again.....

Our MINI took ~6-8 weeks (ordered Nov 18 06, picked up Jan 3 07). Also where you live (east vs. west coast) makes a difference as we are located in NE Florida. Congrats!

I ordered mine December 13, and it was in the paint shop yesterday. Estimated delivery is "mid to late February," which ties in with the U.S. release of mid February. It was about 30 days from "on order" to "in production."

Call 1-866-275-6464 and you can find out daily (if needed )

Ordered my cabrio on Nov 13 and picked up on Jan 4. Delayed due to the holidays by a few days and the truck from the distribution center to the dealer got lost (not sure how that happened).

There is a faq on the mini2 website that explains the production sequence in more detail. There is no exact number of days for the process - it depends on timing. The first timing issue is did your order get in the dealer's ordering queue immediately? My MINI sat at the dock in jolly old England for 8 days waiting for a cargo ship that had room on it while others had only a one or two day wait. Sorry, there is no exact answer, you'll just have to (im)patiently watch your MINI go through the production cycle via either the OL system or ASK-MINI.

I ordered a 2007 Convertible, which means that it is still the R52, and has no "official release date" - it's still the "old build."

On the way

Hi Baron, here is the timeline so far for my 07 mcs -
11.24 - test drive, order
11.29 - US allocations released
11.30 - dealership ordered
Christmas-New Year
1.3 - scheduled for production
1.9 - MINI produced
1.9 - assigned carrier
1.10 - received at Terminal
1.14 - loaded on vessel "Courage"
1.14 - departed for NYC
due in NYC 1.23

The thread under 1st Gear is great and that is where I found the places to track. When there was no info I called "askmini". I also bugged Nick my MA to no end..... luckily he is just as excited as I am!
