I recall the dealer saying these were about 4-500$ to install; I spoke briefly with a salesperson today, who has my full permission to be wrong, but said they are 400 to purchase and 1100 to install (I think 400+700). Is this consistent with what others have paid? If so, all of a sudden the driving lights don't look quite as shiney to me....

You can get some nice PIAA driving lights from mini-madness.com for $375 and install them yourself in an afternoon. That's what I did.

Thanks for the info. I recall your mentioning installing the lights yourself. If you were able to do this in an (((afternoon!!!))), 700$ for installation by MINI seems very high... unless of course, you left out that you happen to own PIAA, have access to all the tools, and have years of experience installing driving lights-- I take it, that's not the case (or if it is, can I make an appt to see you)?

Yea, do it yourself. I was considering them- one dealership said $1100 total and the other said $760 total. $375 is much more reasonable. I haven't done it yet though, but they look great!

I installed the dealer lights, they cost $400. and they're not as good as the PIAA lights. I wish I had known about them earlier. Ron.

$700 installed from my dealer in Charleston. I was quoted $660 installed from another dealer. I went for it because it does involve getting into the electrical system. The lights alone were $350-$400 so for $250-$300 I don't risk hosing up my brand new car. My $.02.

Seriously, this is something I can DIY, without a degree in electrical engineering, or not being a professional mechanic? Forgive me in advance if this was already posted, but any chance we could get some step-by-step directions and maybe some pics of the steps involved? Not that I want you to rip apart your already installed lights, just a general idea of what was involved at what vehicular locations?

Please acetonic, ol' buddy, ol' pal?

But doesn't it ruin your warrenty if you install the PIAA lights, by hacking into the electrical system?

Dealer installed for $938 (lights & labor). I had them do the install before I picked up the car. I am famous for getting shocked whenever I work around electricity.

I'm not adding anything unless it is from MINI. This has to do with keeping the car original. I had a girlfriend whose father collected old cars and they (car collectors) are forever restoring the cars to factory and factory options. The cars are more valuable in that condition. Not that I ever plan on getting rid of mine but it has been ingrained into me.

Do you like the look of the lights, or do you think they are a little small? Have you tried them out at night? Do they add alot to the range and intensity of your brights? Or is it a small difference?

Thank alot for all your suggestions and help!
