R50/53 window etching
I bought my cooper S off the lot, and got a pretty good deal on it. However, it came with window etching which we paid for. However as I got to looking it seems to me that the windows are already etched. Mine have a dark mini logo, below that it says simplex (I think that's it) and a number. Just wondering if others have this as well?
I have the etching as well. My salesman told me to make sure my insurance company knew about the etching for an additional safety discount. When I did, my agent asked me to send a copy of my window sticker that says the etching is on the car -- which it doesn't. Question: Is etching an option on the MCS?
You should be able to get the paper from your dealer stating that the car has etching and what the etching ## is. I had etching on my last car and the dealer provided this for me so I could pass it on to the insurance company.
I know that you get some security break in NJ. I believe they put it in the same class as an alarm or Lojack.

Interesting I will have to check this out.
So what is it just like a serial number etched on the windshield?

Well it seems to me that the etching isn't that big of a deal anyway. I certainly wouldn't hve had it done but it was done already. I'm just trying to find out if I am paying twice for something that's standard. I also had to pay for "simonizing" I wasn't real happy about that but the deal was pretty good anyway. It was an S with everything I wanted and in the color my wife and I agreed on before we left the house.
The name is "securit" below the mini logo.

>>I can't speak for my MCS because I didn't get it done, but on my BMW they etched the VIN# in all my door windows. And Yes i get a discount on my insurance
Same here. Roadshow MINI claimed it was a "no-cost" thing they do for ALL the cars they sell.
