I actually had to go inside the store last week and have the manager ask over the speaker for the van's owner to go and move it. When the BIG fella stomped outside, cussing me and the manager, I just told him he shouldn't have parked over the line into my space blocking me in. I'm sure that he could have cared less.

I have had the same experience...I think my MC is a idiot magnet...

I have big suburban type cars try to squeeze a right turn between my MC and the curb! MY GOD...My MC is not THAT SMALL! I have actually been forced further into the intersection so that they do not scrape my side!

Same in Holland. Very good idea

Except for the B--Tard in the white SUV that parked beside me at the very end of the lot and opened the rear passenger side door into the rear quarter panel. Left paint and a dig.

Parked in the very back as always and came out and somebody had backed into the front of my hood right between the light and the wheel and left a big @#**@ dent and chipped a bunch of paint off and im so mad....and of course it was on our aniversary so I was in a terrible mood the whole night. Is it me or does it just make you unhappy to drive or look at your mini when you know its damaged? This is why we are moving to a deserted island with our minis!!

That's no door ding you have there.

That's not a comp claim, it's an Uninsured Motorist claim. Call your insurance company.

Door dings have become one of my #1 pet peeve. I lived and drove in Italy for three years w/ my MINI and never had another driver hit my door. Upon moving back to the USA, my car had eight door dings w/ paint transfer. Not once did anyone own up to it. Its amazing to me how disrespectful American drivers are and have no regard for other peoples personal property.

That's America, there is no consience over opening your car door ito another vehicle, or playing destuction derby with shoppping carts, or backing into another car. Why this is, I don't know but I fortunately?? have a handicap and parking sticker to go with it, so I can generally park in a relatively safe position. Other than that it's park/n/pray.

Warning....Rant mode on:

Grocery store parking lots are the worst. No matter how convenient the store makes it to return the carts they are always all over the lot. Of course some stores share the blame for the problem as the shopping cart corals are completely full and leave no room for any more deposits forcing people to stick their carts wherever. The other thing that amazes me is that people will not push the carts together in the coral and will instead just leave them nose to tail to the one in front of them. Does it take that much to just move the cart forward another three feet???

Rant mode off.

Ding happens all the time - no surprise!
Happening since they invented the car.

Reason? there are still inconsiderate people around!

That's what a grocery store over here called Aldi has. And If I'm not mistaken, Aldi hails from Germany. I'm surprised more stores have not adopted this. Not only does it cut down on people stealing carts and door dings, but the company wont have to pay people to collect carts.

I have an '02 that was babied by the previous owner with 39K miles (I bought it last fall)...and 250 miles ago got my first door ding!

And I have no clue as to where it came from...my son pointed it out to me one day.

What if the dent man makes it worse?

That's my biggest fear!

In the Spring...I need to over come my fears and have it taken care of.

My MINI got a door ding (pretty sure from someone's car door) on the 3rd day of ownership. Boy am I pissed!!!!!!! It's pretty small but I can easily see it in the light on my passenger door about SUV door height of course. The tiny paint scratch is really barely noticeable but the tiny ding is sticking out even though it is maybe dime size. Not too deep either thank goodeness. Would the paint less dent repair guys be able to fix something like this pretty easily? I assume this is the kind of damage they specialize in no? I am new to the whole ding repair as this is the first car I have really loved and cared a crap about, lol!!! (orchestra playing in background now)

Our Club has our own PDR Guy. And we had a PDR day at our Club Mechanics Shop.....This guy removed the dings like magic

Charged about 75.00 per ding. Most times he is able to access the back of the dent with out a problem. Some times he must drill a tiny hole in one back panel to get to the back of the dinged panel, then uses a tiny black plug to seal it up.
