Here's the deal: I'm trying to get to the bottom of the Cosmoline + stock wiper fluid = death to the paint's clearcoat problem that so many people have experienced (myself included, although to a much smaller degree than others). I have access to a scientific laboratory and have already analyzed some Cosmoline that was still present on my MINI. Now I just need some of the wiper fluid that comes in the cars when they're delivered to their respective dealerships. Is this something I can contact my local dealership about? I'd like to somehow ensure that the fluid is what comes over from England and not something that the dealership has subsequently added. That being the case, is there anyone here who has recently taken delivery, and not added anything to their fluid reservoirs, that can send me a small amount of the fluid? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my hands on a small amount of the fluid?

 

I'm not positive about this...But it is my understanding that the stuff shipped from UK is drained and then re-filled at the VDC. So, anyone that has taken delivery will have replaced fluid. I wonder if you can get some from a VDC??? I could be way off on that but it seems to be what I remember...

Ah ha. If that's the case, then it's the fluid from the VDC causing the problem.
