Strange noises

I was driving the other morning and noticed that my outside temp display was dropping and raising drasticly. I know it was a bit chilly outside, but not 33 degrees! More like 50f. Anyhow, it went all the way down to 33f and made a dinging sound and flashed for about a minute. I looked it up in the owners manual and it didn't say anything about it. It appears to be operating fine now... anyone have a similar issue or know what the culprit is?

Thanx

When the temperture drops below 37F your MINI will ding and flash the temp to alert you that the roads may be icy.

Now that's a smart MINI! Maybe I was just traveling through a pocket of cold air then... lol... anything's possible!

Not only is there a possibility of black ice, but if you are using high performance summer tires (like the Pirellis or the Dunlops that come with the 17" wheels), the rubber is very hard below 35F and is not near as sticky to the road so your car's overall handling will not be as good.

So it's nice to have the warning.
