A question for the car experts

As of 2 days ago, when I shift into 2nd gear, as I am releasing off the clutch, the car gives a little shudder. It seems only to happen when I'm shifting into 2nd. Any ideas?

This is normal. Mine does it too. Take er easy and practice, you will be able to do it. I find that it does it more when I am driving like a grandmother, and less if I am really getting on it and pushing the RPMs.

DITTO, it happens to me sometimes also when I am being gentle. If I push it there is no shudder.

You say as of 2 days ago. Have you changed anything in your driving habbits?

No, and I've owned my MINI for 4 yrs now. That's why I have the question. It just started. Thought something might be wearing out or malfunctioning.

The only thing that comes to mind for me is that something is bogging down the engine...like the ac or something. See if it does it with the ac off. Also listen for different noises under the hood. Maybe some squealing noises? I've had experiences with 4cyl engines where a bearing goes in the ac or alternator and it takes more power to turn it.

Does it do it more when it is cold?

Good luck!

I don't use the ac much (like you said, it bogs down the engine), and it's the same cold or warm. Thanks!

My MCS does that from time to time (unless when im pushing it, like others have said) but i also noticed that it did it when i had the AC on during summer, i called my MA and he said to push it and the car would adjust to your driving habit.........whether you have your AC on or not is normal either way
