MC Switch Question

Perhaps that should be questions! I've had my "experienced" MINI for 3 weeks now and am still learning about it. Many thanks to all of you in this forum as you taught me more than the manual ever could have! You also saved me a trip to the dealer by detailing the fix for a glovebox lid that kept popping open on the road. The 15 min fix worked perfectly - thanks.

Here's my first question - My toggle switch bank has a switch installed with the fog light icon above it - but I have no fog lights. I opened the hood and see no evidence that there were ever brackets installed.

My understanding is that the switches are only installed in the factory leading me to believe the car once had fog lights (or is that driving lights?)

Any way I can tell? Is there a place I can look for a wiring harness or something to tell me if they were once installed? Does this mean I could add them to the car and use the factory toggle switch?

One more quick question - what are the two round openings with black plastic in them all the way on the bottom of the front bumper?

Many thanks!

Don't know why you have the switch, but since you do, it would be a fairly simple matter to add the foglights. The wiring harness should already be in place (to save on costs, most manuf only make 1 wiring harness). You would need to have the car programmed for them at the dealer.
The openings you speak of are where the foglights go! I think. The foglights are below and outboard of the turn signal/parklamps.
Hope that helps.

Is the fog light switch the second from the right, or third? If it's the third (next to the lock/unlock) then that is the rear fog. With the lights on, flip the switch and it should light up red at the tip (the front fog switch lights green.) The rear fogs are in the top of the brake lights.
Welcome to NAM!

IIRC, if you want to add front fogs, you have to run the wiring - here are the front fog install instructions.

thanks to all!

- the toggle is second from the right. The toggle appears to be solid chrome - not sure it could light at all at the tip. I will try tonight when it gets dark enough to tell

Second from the right are the front fogs and those openings are for the lights. Looks like your car had 'em.
