ASC switch & wheel spin?

Newbie question... *IF* I were to say push down on the throttle completely & my front wheels spin like crazy for a few seconds.... would turning OFF ASC make a difference?

ASC limits your wheels spin, turning it off requires some restraint with the go pedal to limit wheels spin.

yeah you'd just spin more, ASC cuts the engine to stop the spin, kind of a pain in the **** when you lose power going round a tight corner with a little spin.

AFAIK, you couldn't make the wheels spin like crazy with ASC on. First the computer would activate the brakes, then kill the throttle until the wheels spun at the same rate (aka had traction.)
With ASC off, it's up to your right foot and friction. It's a 1.6, so unless there is some friction limiter (water, leaves, bleach ) I can't see a whole lot of spinning going on.

dead stop to full throttle on my MCSCa gets me approx 2 to 3 secs of wheelspin, no leaves/water/etc on the road... thats y i asked.

So, what does DSC do then?

Wow. DSC only comes into play while in motion. It utilizes yaw and steering sensors to see if the car is going in the 'intended direction', and corrects using ABS to brake the appropriate wheel(s).
Maybe they've updated the software - no way I can spin the wheels for two seconds without ASC kicking in.

My ASC will allow slip for a second, maybe less. Then the car just dies in its tracks.

So, what does DSC do then?
your probably measuring the time from putting the pedal to the floor till the wheels stop spinning.

the time it takes from the first sign on wheelspin to the computer acting on it, is miliseconds, it takes under a second from the time the wheels spin to the time they stop.

theres alot of slop in the drive by wire setup on a stock car.





oh, and btw, with dsc off, i can spin 1st, 2nd and chirp third on dry pavement.
