It was love at first site. I can still remember seeing one for the first time...thought it looked really British. I wonder why? I love Europe, love the looks of the car, and finally had enough money to get one a month ago. Still loving every minute of it and still can't believe I finally own one.

I like the idea of a car that gets its "sense of self" from something other than the price. I looked at $60+ Japanese cars: they have no soul. I rode in a friend's MCS and was hooked. I did not even drive a stick at the time; I learned just so I could get Monty.

I never enjoyed driving before.

Where to start

Being in the older set shall we say, I had lots of fun cars in my youth BK (before kids) and money. After kids, company cars, and practical stuff.

The MINI
-Cheap
-FUN with a capital F
-Unique in every way

It got me back to enjoying cars again. Love it. And it's her car, not mine

Something different with good modding ( personalization ) prospects. Plus the gas milage in todays world is of some importance It is fun for me to play the David to a lot of the Goliaths out there as well.

As many have already stated: (not in any particular order)

1) Love at first site (internet search landed me on Mini.com)
2) I smile everytime I see one on the road
3) You get to join the coolest motoring clubs in the world!
4) Retro look
5) MINI + JCW = FUN FUN FUN
6) MINI + Curves = WEEEEEE
7) I love taking road trips!!!! This one is probably my biggest reason for buying.

I second that! Something that started to get old about owning an SUV, and a pickup (both 4x4s) - is that everyone expected me to haul them and their stuff around. Especially when the road conditions turned sour.

When my neighbor (best friend and fellow extended cab pickup owner) and I were talking about the 04 MCS I bought, he commented about how small the Mini was. I said, "Good! Now nobody will want me to haul stuff for them!" and he responded with, "Never thought of it that way, maybe I should get one too!"

Impulse buy....I would go and test drive cars for fun, porsche, audi, MB, BMW, etc....and made an appointment in July of 03 to test drive both the MC and MCS. LOVED the MCS, but did not want to wait 9 months for a delivery, so offered them a LOW BALL figure on their IB/W demo, asked for 0% interest, no money down, and said I would take it that day. I knew they would not take it, but knew I could afford it if they did, so why not, never hurts to ask....right? Well....they went and talked for five minutes, and said yes so I drove away that afternoon with an extra car. Had to get a buddy to go back with me to pick up my Audi allroad.

So, I ended up well below MSRP, got a free extended warranty due to the car being a demo with 1200 miles on it, and got the 17" s-lites for $400 for the set, brand new...from the dealer.

Car had leather, heated seats, sun roof, xenon, rubber mats, boot box, and 20% tint. I later started to do my own mods... added stripes and sunroof graphic, s-sills, s-gas cap, AFE intake, milltek exhaust, suspension, blue leather sport seats, Strut bar front and rear, CD changer, clear indicators on the side, blacked on fenders, anodized fluid caps, red and clear tails, 06 xenons, stubby antenna, chrome toggle bars, touareg led cig lighter light, euro shelf, glove box divider, center dash divider, curved arm rest to match door curve (see my gallery for pics), coil over suspension, as well as h-sport suspension on stock dampers, ss+ sway bar, cadmium plated drilled and slotted rotors with DS2500 pads, 5mm spacers all around....and a bunch of other stuff that I have forgotten over the past 3 years.

Basically, it was a toy, only has 18K miles on it now, and is in near perfect shape. The wife loves it, and it is our date car, and my fair weather play car. Sure, the S would have been nice, but it is so fun to drive around corners, why not? I have never looked back and thought it was a bad impulse. I am going to keep this car forever. Allroad is long gone, and I have had 4 other daily drivers since the allroad, but the MINI is still my true love in a car. This winter he, (Josh), is getting a new leather interior in the doors, dash, steering wheel, shifter boot, etc....black ostrich leather.

So, short story, just an impulse buy that was the best decision I have made, automobile wise.
