My dad had a classic when I was a little kid and I have always loved them, and when the new one came out I said I have to have one, and now I am 18 and was looking at cars, and wanted something unique, stylish, fun to drive, affordable, and small, so here I am about to pick mine up

I was dragged to a MINI dealer by my buddy's wife. She was all worked up because they were "cute". I was kinda conned into a test drive by a cute little MA who must have been a PhD in high performance driving. She took me on a real roller coaster drive, executed a hand brake turn, tossed me the keys and asked me if I wanted to try! Sort of the opposite of the typical prospective owner terrorizing the salesman!

As soon as I drove it, I just had to have one!

Being a car guy I have always been around and loved cars. When I was younger my dad had a customer who collected mini's and similar smaller cars. Since I saw them I wanted a MINI. I got my pickup only months before I saw the concept, and I was sorry that I got the truck at the time. I am glad I waited, my '05 is GREAT!!!

For me, it was a no-brainer. I had owned a 1959 Morris Mini Minor when I was in high school in 1961. I learned to drive a stick on that car and swore I'd get another one day. I never figured it would take so long, but when the MINI came out again, my wife KNEW I wanted one and was ok with it, since she knew how much fun I had had with the Mini Minor. And now I have two....

My Uncle restores British cars, and I've always been a fan of the Original Mini. I was still in high school in 02' when the MINI came out. Drove it then but was broke. Couple years later - still broke but I finally got one!

I fell in love with them the first time I saw them at a car show at the Nassau Coliseum in 2002. I started shopping for one in 2004 but waited until 2005 to buy one because my MA told me there were to be some major improvments. I'm glad I waited.

Well. My uncle owned one of the classic minis before moving to the US. Fell in love w/ it the first time my family flew out to visit him (my first trip out of the US). Fast forward about 20 years, he's now living in the US, and we're both at the San Francisco Auto Show checking out the then brand new Minis. I loved the new design instantly. Finally drove one in Miami (while on my last spring break) in 2005. I just could not stop grinning whenever I was driving that MCS! After graduation later that spring, I decided to buy myself a graduation present. The Mini was the best driving, most unique, and most practical "luxury" car for the money that I could find. Got a great deal on a low mileage '04 MCS this past October...and here I am! :-D

I was looking at the VW Eos and never did considered the MINI because I thought it was expensive. After I looked at the price,I thought it was still expensive to own because of maintenance cost.. Then I found out it came with the 3 years mantenance free package...After taking it for a test drive, and reading NAM 's blogs of all the great things MINI is.. I was sold.. I got the MCSc.. but now after having a few days of driving ,if I could do it over again,it would be the MCc...The 'S' is just a demon to drive...too much power is not good...I already went 95mph plus on the So Cal freeway last night and I have to keep myself in check all the time...km

1. It is more exciting that a Jetta
2. I've always liked smaller cars and dislike driving large vehicles
3. My honey wanted a PT Cruiser and I told him I'd refuse to drive it if he did get one.
4. Style
5. It was affordable
6. We test drove one and I became obsessed
7. Good warranty

I had watched the Italian Job, and fell IN LOVE with the MINI right then and there.

The fact that not too many people had one, and the handling. I had had enough with the Honda Civic (even though it was paid for). I needed something FUN.

There were all of these twisty roads near me that seemed like that they weren't getting nearly enough use. So as a public service, I got a MINI!

"So, uh, how come you don't care where you're goin'?"
"'Cause how you get there is the worthier part."

Paul, that is brilliant.

Ditto all the above,
My wife was first to come down with the fever, she loved the look mostly at first. So she saved up a bit and bought a used 05 MCC/AB. After learning more about them and driving her car, my daily driver (99 Saturn 230Kmi) began to rapidly lose it’s luster.

So . . . a month or so later, I got a new daily driver (02 MC). My 140 mi per day commute is now my favorite part of the day.

I've wanted one since the new edition came out in '02. This year was just the perfect time - and we're having a blast!

My MINI makes me smile...

when i saw that BMW was bringing it back, i was crazy about it.

at the time, i lived in New York city, though, and didn't really need a car. I did rent one a few times from ZipCar.com, though, and loved drving it (and I believe it was a Cooper CVT).

Then moved to California. I couldn't rationalize buying a new MINI at that point, so I bought a used Mitsubishi Mirage (fine, but blah). Then I was out of the country for 3 months (sold the Mirage) and when I came back, needed a car. Was just going to go the used route for budget reasons, but test drove an 02' Cooper. That was it. Eventually decided that I wanted to custom build one a new one and since the '06 was the last of the 1st gen, decided I wanted to go with that instead of waiting for the '07.

I always liked the classic, but didn't know much about them, or where to get them I also knew they would be a poor commute car for 140 miles per day commute. Then in 2001 BMW started testing the new ones in my town (like they do all there cars), and I knew I had to have one. Went home that evening and did an internet search and found the MINIUSA site. From there it was all down hill....... Started saving, went and test drove one while on vacation in the summer of 2002, went back and placed an order the next day. Picked it up on Dec 28th 2002.

Can't think of another car I would buy.

Nik

I wanted one ever since i first saw a concept way back in like 98 or something, and it also helped that my dad had a friend that had a classic when they were young and said those cars were super fun.........plus i couldnt stand the fact of having a car that you could see on the road every 15 seconds (i.e. hondas, toyotas, etc) i wanted a car that would set me apart from everyone else

Thanks! FYI, it came from the pilot episode of Firefly. Great series that died a much too early death. As soon a I heard it while re-watching the series, I realized that it was perfect!

The Experience

Simply put it that way. Driving a MINI is an experience that almost everyone needs to try out at least once. Some may not like it, but those that do will surely remember that for the rest of their lives.

Still have my 94 wrangler, but was using it mainly for work where I can put up to 150 miles a dayfor work. The gas was killing me especially after Katrina. The gas prices were going crazy and there were gas shortages here in GA. SO I used that as an excuse to my wife for a test drive, fell in love with it that day and drove home the next in my 05 s, and still loving every minute of my obsession

Driving a MINI is like walking a puppy. Everyone thinks it's cute and wants to play with it.
