Boot Stripe - Alternative

I didn't want to risk removing the "COOPER" and screwing up puting it back on, so I "broke" the stripe....I like it.

Very nice.
I think that's the only way it should be done. I did it that way on the JB/W I used to have...

My installer didn't tilt the stripes like I wanted him to, but he did cut around the Cooper S logo and made it look pretty good. I'm happy with the end result, plus without the tilt it's a bit more unique.

Took about 45 mins, but that was because I was double checking everything I did.....I was sweating by the end.....very nervous about screwing it up....especially when I cut the stripe.

I went to your gallery to get a better look.......oh man, those side stripes are NICE!! I've been thinking of something for my side, but I think those stripes in white would be too much. But on your color scheme they look excellent.

I did these about a year ago. I love the look of them cut around the badge.

Dang it, I wish I would have seen this post earlier. I JUST added boot stripes and think the Cooper S and JCW badge look peculiar atop the stripe.

Kudos to you though. Good lookin out!

IMHO, the "cut" totally spoils the flow of the stripe, but what matters is that YOU like it.

FYI for anyone worried about removing the badge...

Getting it off with dental floss or fishing line take about 5 minutes, tops... just put a strip of packing tape across the letters first and they stay perfetly alligned - re-stick 'em to your TV or microwave with a bit of extra 2-sided tape if you like. Most boot stripes come with a replacement OEM badge that literally sticks right back on - just mark the edges of the badge with masking tape before you cut it off to make replacement a snap. If you install your own boot stripes, replacing the badge is honsestly child's play...

I like the look. White space around text is always good in my book.
