this is only the front of the car though... The back bumper is dragging on the ground, one rear tailight is smashed and the body panel around it, along with the passenger side creases i mentioned before, and the front and rear windows on the passenger side are shattered from my impact with the tree. Not to mention how positive my passenger side camber is now. Hopefully there are no undlying problems that will be discovered when they are fixing the car, but we'll see.

My insurance will go up more than likely but I really don't care. My friend who was following me said while she was scared and worried to say the least when she saw it, the way the deer went in the air was pretty neat. She said it flew a good 6 or 8 feet over the roof and came down like a punted football
It's why they have redesigned the hood on the '07, so it won't come down like a punted football, instead it will soon flip end over end like a Phil Niekro knuckle ball.

sorry to hear about your accident, bro.
i was recently at Target and saw something called Deer Whistles, which are sold in automotive department. they are attached to the car and they emit some sort of whistle that is suppose to make the deer get off the road.
anyone has any experience with these? seems like a good idea for people driving through forest roads. i wonder if these work and if the whistle they make is otherwise an annoyance in the city, etc.

man, i wish you best of repair/recovery. hang in there brother!

Man, if your car looks like that the deer should be ground venison.

I think in concept these are a good idea, but my experience with these is they attrack more critters than they deflect. I had a set on a Bronco and I still had to swerve for deer, raccons, and all sorts of other multi legged things. Plus the high pitched noise they make at speed is pretty bad (IMO).

Mikey, it is really weird that your car seems to have taken a much greater beating from a collision with a deer (plus collateral damage) than mine did from a collision with another car. May the Lord guide the hands and inspire the minds and hearts of our body shop workers to bring our MINIs back.

Glad you're ok. At least the deer didn't join you.
From our local paper today:

Deer shot afterjumping in car
Two people were injured when their Honda Accord hit a deer on Graham Hill Road early Sunday evening, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deer, a large buck, jumped at the front of the car near Lockwood Lane at 5:11 p.m., CHP officer Grant Boles said. The deer hit the vehicle's windshield and roof, then shattered the windshield and landed inside the car, he said.
The deer thrashed around inside the car and suffered critical injuries, Boles said. The two occupants of the car, a 23-year-old Santa Cruz woman and a 25-year-old Watsonville man, suffered cuts and abrasions but were able to get out of the car and away from the injured deer, Boles reported.
A CHP officer who responded shot the deer, Boles said.

Also check out my posts here for more info on deer whistles, and time of year/day statistics HERE

Your insurance shouldn't go up.... deer are a considered no fault/act of god thing...

I feel your pain... I've hit 3 on a motorcycle and 2 in a car . Very frankly, they are my number one fear of death and injury.... by far . Needless to say, I've done lots of deer research :impatient.

An update... With pics

Yeah I went down today to see the carnage for the first time in daylight, it was worse than I thought. All pics are taken with a camera phone, sorry.

This is the engine bay... One motor mount is trashed along with a transmission mount. That's just the beginning however... The Aluminum AGS tube is punctured and notice the damage to the filter and heatshield and the damage to DFIC Diverter. A big thanks goes out to Peter @ M7 though, as he was able to ship me on such short notice a filter, heatshield, diverter, and hood scoop. All of which are in the hands of the people at Harvey's Collision. Mike there said that a conservative estimate would be about two weeks. Which I'm fine with. I get my baby back... I'm so pumped.

Damage to the Heatshield:
