R50/53 Solution for Cold Start Problem
Attention all fellow Cooper S owners out there having the cold start problem in the morning:
You may have been told by your dealer that the software fix will be coming in the next month or so, but if you want a faster solution, there may be another option so contact your dealer.
Gary King in the service dept. at MINI Peabody where I have mine serviced said instead of waiting for the software fix to be delivered to the dealership, they can take the computer chip out of my car and ship it to national headquarters in NJ for immediate reprogramming. He said they have done this for a few others and had it back within 3 days! So it may be worth checking with your local dealer to see if they can do the same. The only trade-off here is that you will obviously have to part with your Baby for a few days.
I plan to drop mine off in a couple weeks before my vacation to Virginia Beach so she'll be good to go when I return.
