Sombody please help me

I am looking for an area of this site that has some people with technical experience... I'm used to a very simple board for repairing old motorcycles so I am finding it confusing here...

I am looking for an area of the site that mainly deals with mechanical DIY stuff, general maintenance, repair... etc.

This is the closest thread I can find but it has very little action on it...
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=75372

Am I in the wrong place? If so can you suggest a site to get tech info? I know I can go to the dealer but that kind of defeats the whole DIY concept...

I am desperately trying to remove my interior on my off days as I need to repair my hatch hinges...

Please help!

The best thing to do is be as specific in your posts as you can about what you are trying to do. Describe exactly what you've done up to the point where you're stuck, and be clear about what you need to do next that you can't figure out. This forum is good for general "How To" type questions, since it covers all non-performance modifications. If you want help on tuning the engine or suspension, try the "performance" forum, but still try to be as specific as possible.

Good luck, and welcome!

Ah good thank you... I just came in from some frustration so I'll cool my jets..

I need to repair my hatch hinges. The right side hinge has a bent washer/metal plate that the nut tightens against. This is from the original (2002 Mini Cooper non-S) hinge pivots getting rusty and binding the hinge (Mine were barely rusty but apparently enough to cause the hinge to put excessive pressure on the washer.

I need to drop the headliner in order to remove the hinge and eithe buy new ones or place a stronger piece of metal in behind the nut.

I am in the process of removing the rear interior pieces. I have the seat lowers and the rear plastic out of the car. I have removed all of the T-40 bolts that hold the seats in and I have loosened up the two side plastic covers along with the rear pillar covers.

I cannot figure out how the seats physically come out of the side plastic. It seems that once you remove all the seat bracket bolts that the seats would slide out of the brackets.

I don't believe that I need to remove the headliner completely, just enough to really get at the hinge nuts. I'll post a couple pics later if you need them.
