MINI First-Aid Kit?

I understand that there's a First-Aid kit option for European MINIs. Is the kit available here in the States?

I like having a first-aid kit available for long trips, and a MINI kit would be a nice way to do it.

Thanks!

The First Aid Kit is not available on the US cars.. We went to Target and bought one... I keep looking for a MINI one on ebay but haven't spotted one yet...

I have a small kit that I had in my last car, but I hoped (being the completist that I am) that someone would have the MINI kit available.

Thanks!!!

That would be nice to at least have the MINI first aid storage. I like to create my own kit.

You can order the "official" MINI first aid kit from various European vendors. I used to have one - I bought it from NewMINIStuff. The reason I don't have it now is because I got the OEM SIRIUS receiver, which needed to reside in the same boot cubbyhole.

In most European countries, maybe all, it's mandatory to have a first aid kit and a warning triangle in your car. Makes a lot of sense. I'm sure bureaucracy is at work here in the US preventing that from becoming law. Too bad because then we'd all have the MINI first-aid kits in our babies.

If you don't mind the logo then you can get a Mazda kit: http://trussville.buymazdaparts.com/...&modelcode=MIA

ministuff.com had the OEM kits but I can't seem to find it on their site.

I agree that this should be mandatory - it just makes sense. But the US Auto industry has a long history of resisting safety regs that might add to the production cost of the car.

That being said...

NewMINIStuff.com has the kit, but the shipping cost is actually more than the cost of the kit... Even so, I might pick it up - it's fairly inexpensive, and it's a nice thing to have tucked in the boot...

I got mine from them too. Very fast service, faster than some US vendors. I also picked up a way cool safety triangle.

Interesting...All of our Audis and MBs have come with first aid kits, but neither of our BMWs do (MCS included)...

Why would BMW just leave out first-aid kits?

I got lucky and mine had the first-aid kit, triangles, and safety vest all in the car. Course, mine was bought in Germany and brought over there. Good stuff, good conversation pieces too! haha

Rumor has it that the first-aid kit has some pain pills in it that contain codine, hence why it wasn't allowed to be brought in the us since it requires a prescription for said pain killers here. I can't deny or confirm this since my kit is still in the plastic.

Same here First time I showed someone the boot, they asked what "that blue thing" was Naturally I had to follow my warning triangle demonstration with a quick showing of the 1st aid kit as well

I'm actually surprised the requirement hasn't caught on here in the States I mean, it makes sense, doesn't it??

Edit: Wait a minute... you got a VEST?!?! Where was it stored??

It's in a orange pouch laying next to the jack/tools in the boot. It's BRIGHT orange with the name of the dealership on it (German) and says MINI in black on the back.

When I picked up my MINI in Heidelberg (June 02) it came with both the first aid kit and triangle. Haven't had to use either yet - guess I should check the first aid kit to see what's in it!

Gotta love being stationed in Germany. Got both but don't think I got the vest. I don't think that most people here in the states would use the tri-angle even if it was required by law.

Well, I'd like to think I would I actually broke down in my Audi coming off of A3 near Hanau, right around a curve... A truck came round and swerved left to avoid the triangle and missed me (and my car) by about 3 feet After a change of drawers, I was fine, the triangle however....

Got both in my Audi too. Must be a Germany thing to have both a MINI and an Audi.

Damnit, HAD to bring the Audi up, didn't I Unfortunately, since May it's JUST been the MINI. The Audi wasn't US spec, so we had to sell her before moving here. I miss the HELL out of her and am STILL getting used to the FWD in MINI

Here's the TQ:

Wal-Mart

I like to build my own kit, but since I have had the car for only two days, I went to Wal Mart and bought a First Aid Kit for $4.27. (Pharmacy section, not Automotive). It fit into the left hand cubby easily. I also bought a pair of 12 gauge, 10 foot (or perhaps the other way around) jumper cables, in a carry bag, for $7.27 They fit in the right side cubby. I suppose you could reverse the placement, if you are a lefty or just totally OCD.

Ultimately, I will figure out a way to create a standard 72 hour kit and get it to fit into the same cubbies. But for now, since I didn't want to be without the basics, I spent nearly 12 dollars and got what I needed. And there is still room for some flares (or glo-sticks, which are totally indispensible) and some $1 parkas.

I bought the OEM first aid kit from newministuff, and I am gald I did. Although the kit would only be a stopgap for a serious emergency situation, it would work nicely for minor injuries -- but, if you really wanted/needed a first aid kit to cover every emergency, you'd need to fill the whole boot plus.

I especially enjoy that the kit is designed to fit perfectlyin the tight spaces of the MINI. Next, I will purchase the the Warning Triangles.
