R50/53 Driving Lamps - Secure or What?

Driving Lamps - Secure or What?
I am buying the OEM's or nothing. I am all about bling. I like them. However, I am concerned with comments about them rattling.
Do they? I wouldnt like that if the do.
Also, someone BEGAN to talk about the rubber nib in the back of them doing something or needing something to be secure.... they never finished explaining . read and searched many threads on OEM lamps.
Does this thing get drilled through the visible grill? That rubber nib looks like it goes through it sort of. Or at least wears out a notch in it after driving a long time with them.
thanx

I have seen several OEM driving light equipped MINIs. I have never seen one with the rubber bumpers installed. The dealers just skip this step from what I've seen. On a gravel road, or a rough road, there is some vibration in the lights, and it is visible in the beam they project. It is not enough to concern me but your perceptions may be different than mine.
I have the best of both worlds (but it cost WAY too much this way). I had the OEM lights. I thought they sucked, so I swapped them for Cibie Tangos. I still have the OEM switch and wiring which is first rate.
Look in my gallery. I doubt you can tell the difference in the OEM lights and the Tangos, but you can tell a giant difference driving the car at night on a dark road. I prefer a nice clean look, but I value function over appearance.
The Tangos are easily adjustable for elevation whereas the OEM lights tend to "look up" as the bolt is tightened...a pain to aim properly.

Ditto on the adjustment problems , the stockers are on a kind of ball and socket with a through bolt . Make the adjustment ,tighten the bolt and the light moves right back. I had bend the mounting bracket to get the lights aimed right. The little hokey rubber back stops were frozen and locked up after 3 years old, I repaired them the best I could, until I get a chance to completely change them to something more stout as the lights giggle quite a bit.One word ,cheap.

I saw the rubber things dried out and dead on used mini's on the lot.
that's not cheap, thats actually pricier rubber normally that does that. It is latex from a latex tree. best kind. needs to be treated for outdoor use with some sort of water based thing like Griot's. but in general, that aiming aspect does suck. I will have to do that when I am at the dealer. aim them there make em work.
