I know most people have nothing nice to say about the run flats, how they hate the run flat tires, they're a harsh ride, they don't handle well and blah blah blah. My run flat sensor came on yesterday and I had no problem driving 50mph to the shop to get it repaired. No calling and waiting for roadside assistance, no fix-a-flat and a compressor, and definitely no changing a tire on the side of the road in rush hour traffic with the possibility of having my melon splattered all over the pavement. None of that, just a leisurely five mile drive to the repair shop.

30 minutes later I was MOTORING on my way.

I guess you can never really appreciate something you don't use until you use it...

Wow!

Did it happen tou in the city or suburbs?
Did you just pick any shop to repair the run-flat or you go to a specific run-flat shop?

Sorry I ask these question. Thanks.

So did you check the pressure in each wheel to verify which one was low?? What was the cause?

It happened on the fringe of KC on the hwy. I just called a coworker and had him look on the net for the closest tire repair facility. There were a couple of major retail places within five miles. Any shop that repairs tires should be able to do run-flats.

DiD
Visual inspection was enough to verify which one was flat. Cause unknown, but whatever it was did not stay in my tire. That was yesterday and today she's running just fine.

Thanks capsaicinmini for speaking up for the runflats!

I agree that they definitely come in handy when they're needed. I had a similar situation occur a couple of weeks ago when one tire was down by just 6-8 psi and the alert lit up. I filled the tire and went on my way. The next day the same thing happened so I went to a tire place where they pulled a 1" screw out of the tread and patched it.

Now it's 2 weeks later and I've had no more problems!

I LOVE my performance run-flats!!!
Not just for their "run-flat" capabilities, but performance as well.

Harsh ride?....a go kart doesn't ride like a land yacht!
Doesn't handle?.....I beg to differ, check out my post: Spirited Motoring with 4 Adults
Expensive?....yes, but when their life runs out, I'm getting "regular" performance tires.

So for the time being, drive that go-kart MINI like it was meant to be, and if you get a flat, well, ya have that added extra feature

I rip around pretty hard on my run-flats in my MC, and after hearing all the bad mouthing about them, I'm loving them. I didn't expect a smooth ride when I got MINI, but city and freeway are just fine. When the rougher roads show up, they're often in areas where I'm being a bit heavy footed, and the springs in the car work just fine- I like a bit of road chatter when I'm working behind the wheel. When these run out, I just may replace them w/ another set. The handling makes me feel like I'm driving. I agree w/ Kohu'ulaMINI- go carts aren't made to nap or use a cell phone in.

I agree, I like my Goodyear All-Season's and they have stayed as my "winter tires". They are really good and don't plan on getting rid of them, just for the summers.

I love my runflats, too and I was pleasantly surprised with how they were in the snow. I heard from somewhere that I would be sacrificing handling in the snow if I had my run flats on over the winter, but they were better than any other tire I had on any other car. And we had ALOT of snow.

On day 2 with my MINI I got a massive tire gash in the middle of nowhere. The flat-tire monitor light did NOT come on, but the loud gushing/launching noise was a great indicator! It was impossible to repair, and a pain (and pricey) to replace in Smalltown USA, but the run-flats definitely kept me safe. Looking back, I'm thankful I had them.
