Would it be cheaper to trade in and buy another Mini?

Anything can be done as long as your wallet allows. But I am afraid converting a BMW MINI from LHD to RHD is a pretty expensive and probably time consuming idea.

I have been around classic Minis and doing this type of conversion is A LOT EASIER because the factory built the cars with fittements (Holes, etc) that could accomodate either LH or RH arragements to reduce costs at the assembly line.

The design and manufacturing philosphy of the new MINIs is completel different. For starters you would have to purchase a brand new instrument cluster and make some heavy duty modifications to steering gear. Your wipers would have to be changed to, headlight aims, ugh, why bother?

Besides, your classic Minis can get away with RHD in this country because they are probably 25 years or older (Or at least you can make them see that way ) but doing this to a 1-4 year old car could mean trouble with the DMV, cops, etc.

May be I am talking out of my ***, but if you so desire the "purer" RHD experience on a new MINI, probably it would be a lot cheaper to import an original factory one like that from the UK, Australia, NZ or even Japan. Can you do it legally and cheaply? That is the big question.......
