I talked to a young lad racing an MCS in Orlando this weekend. His track performance was not stellar..I think inexperience as his time was continuously bested by several SVT Focus and Miatas. He had not yet made any mods but told me his first would be a new supercharger giving an additional 50hp gain. I asked him if he was going to disregard any warranty and he replied that it was a MINI supercharger to be installed on 04 units...

I haven't read anything about this...anyone else?

IMHO, money is better spent in the suspension/setup than additional hp as a first pass.

I have my doubts about that one. Can't say for sure that he's telling the truth or not. But with MINI just introducing their colaboration with JCW, and that kit now being available, I think they'll probably be taking it all one step at a time. There's also been word that MINI/BMW will have a chip for the MINI's out through their performance line all backed by warranty. We still have yet to see the fruits of that rumour.
Did he state any validity to what he was saying by backing it up? Who was this mysterious MINI man? Any additional info on who he is, where we can contact him etc.? I guess time will tell the truth, or getting the word from the horse's mouth.

Well, if you take a base Mini at 115HP and an MCS at 163HP that equals a difference of 48HP.

So the stock supercharger IS "50HP" more. :smile:
