I just re-read the January issue of European Car magazine. In the "A guide to the MINI aftermarket" article they refer to a upcoming MINI Cooper RS. Is this the same thing as the JCW stuff that is coming out? If not , what is it? Sorry if this has already been discussed but I am new to the board and tried to search out info .but had no luck. Thanks.............

 

It's a rumor that was really popular for a while... people thought a bigger engine would be fitted to the Cooper S, much like what Volkswagen is doing with the R32, fitting a 3.2 liter V6 from the VW Phaeton and the 4motion AWD system.

Imagine a MCS with an I-6 from the 330 and AWD or RWD - that's what the RS should be if they ever build it, but don't expect it any time soon. JCW isn't the RS but it's what they're selling instead.

The RS is a rumor. Forget about it.

Yeah, it threw everybody for awhile since it did actually show up in print. In the end, though, it was just a rumor. I guess the mag boys heard it as a rumor, too. Funny thing those rumors...MC + more HP = rumor. It was bound to cause a stir...
