Great, honest post, I always thought the same, that MODs devalued a car. But just today I was lusting after the retrofit JCW engine package, I'll re-think that now and go nowhere near the suspension kit. I would like a brake upgrade because I want it to stop like my motos do and it is still too much like a car.

I still would like to see 200 HP with a lower RPM torque pull to redline than this one that doesn't start to pull until 4 K or so, I guess I am just too used to how my BUELL pulls from the basement. Sounds like it may be the 2008 model Traveller "S" after all, it is supposed to pull clean from 2K to redline and should be 190 HP or so, but will also be a little longer and heavier, presumably, we'll see what they and the 2007 "S" look like up close.

Any ideas on getting that HP/torque from 2K that I am looking for out of this S? If not, I guess I'll just keep it stock, I paid for the LSD, and Convenience Package but none of the other profit centers they have in these things. I made out on the insurance settlement but that probably was because the appraiser didn't really know MINIS and I had really held the line and only paid 22K for the PW/B one. stay in touch, OK?

Chows, no way we can survive without you. Who is going to do all the research now? The PI thread can't afford to lose a poster. Remember how the whole thing nearly fell apart when Bat was gone for a while? So surely you will still participate here.

By the way I love the replacement. Just put some checkers on the roof and maybe an "Actual Size" sticker and we can pretend its just an expensive MINI.

I really like the MC40 edition...Sorry you had a bad experience with the MINI... Remember I too am an old Toyota enthusiast...(you know how spoiled we get with reliability)...I still love my 2002 MCS (despite all the little "quirks" it has grown on me.) I do agree that this car has more problems than any other car I've owned and if it were my wife's car, I don't think I could trust this car....If I had to pick a car to drive cross country (between my old Toyota P/u with 160,000 original miles, and the MCS with 50,000).....I'd pick the Toyota..LOL
I do love my MCS and I'm sure you will love your Cayman...
It's funny, but I figured you sold your car when browsing the for sale forums...(I did some detective work and found this thread...LOL)
Hope to still see your green light on by your name....

Thanks. Its very interesting that you wrote that. We have done maybe six, 10,000 miles trips around the US (3 - 4 weeks at a time). All in a Toyota. Worst thing was a cracked windshield because I was stupid driving to fast on a gravel road and a blowout outside Searchlight, NV. At least the toyota had a spare tire

Now I know Clo has done Mucho travels and props to her! But honestly, I would never attempt at 10,000 mile trip in our car. Yup, I'd take the 160K mile Toyota any day ... besides, right about now its about broken in

I just caught this thread trough your asking about the 09 convertibles. I ditched my 03 MCS after 6mos/7500 miles because of the routine aggravating things that would just break or stop working. I thought the car was going to leave me stranded somewhere and be a nightmare out of warranty.

After two years inbetween with an M3, I have now had my 06 MCS for almost a year/14k miles and it has been pretty bulletproof, definitely more confidence inspiring than the older cars. I wouldn't be surprised if you do end up with a new vert, they are making lots of progress on the quality end with every passing model year. Also, you really can't resist/get away from these cars.
