I walked out my back door this morning and discovered a film shoot in progress. I was pleased to see a C/R MC prominently featured in the film. They had two guys with buckets, sponges and towels detailing the MINI as part of the shoot. Does this fine car with Colorado plates belong to anyone here?

Nope, I didn't talk to anybody. They all looked pretty busy with the shoot and I had to get off to work. I'll see if I can find out what the film is all about and let y'all know.Originally Posted by polizei

Yep. The neighborhood has hosted several film crews over the years. Pretty unusual for Longmont, CO. We're getting used to the activity. This past spring, before the grass started to grow for the season, the film crew spray painted the grass in front of a house. It sure looked odd once they were gone - one green lawn and the rest still brown. Originally Posted by HHFD633

Here's a link to the neighborhood website. http://www.prospectnewtown.com/ Take a tour around and notice the change in architecture from West to East. It's New Urbanism run amok.

ah... Longmont..... I grew up visiting my grandmother in Longmont all the time. I'm sure her house, a 1940s bungalow is long gone.... but maybe not. Can't remember the name of her street now. My mom went to school in Longmont but was from Niowat, when Niowat was just a tiny town where everyone was related. lol

Looks like you're on to something citydweller. According to my wife, they were filming a woman in a bikini next to the MINI. Kind of cheesie - complete with a big fan to make her hair blow around. Originally Posted by acitydweller

Tomorrow should be a bit tamer as we are hosting a photo shoot for Cottage Living magazine.

Niwot has grown a bit. It now has it's very own high school - Niwot High, of course. My daughter starts 9th grade there in a few weeks. The core of Niwot hasn't changed very much. Maybe you're grandma's house is still there. Get me an address and I'll take a picture for you.Originally Posted by pottermom

It sat right at the base of Gunbarrel Hill outside Niowat (do they still call it that?) and last I saw it was covered with houses (dumb place to build houses because the wind blows mighty hard on top...). My mother attended the Niowat school through the 8th grade, that's as far as it went in the 30s. She was cousins with every student except one! My grandparents are buried in the Niowat cemetary. Seems like ages I've been there. Thanks for the offer. I'll just keep my memories...... the old house (I have a doorknob from it), the wood stove (only heat) the ice cream socials at the United Brethren church! (best ice cream I ever had as a kid), watermelon patch raiding (farmers would hide their patch in the middle of corn fields). Yup, the memories are probably the best.

Very cool indeed. :-) They used to shoot scenes from that show "Ed" in little old Closter, NJ (Bergen County)... watching a Hollywood crew work is pretty neat stuff. Never saw a MINI there though.

How fun to wake up to a MINI featured in a shoot! My neighborhood (Mar Vista in West Los Angeles) is used often in shoots. In fact, my 1940 cottage was considered as a location for "Speed," way back when. Drat! I could have made $3500+!

Wake up to a shoot is exactly right. They started setting up for the shoot around 6:00am. If I'd realized they were featuring a MINI, I would have been out there sooner and offering up mine as an extra for the shoot.Originally Posted by MINIclo

What fun it would have been if they had used your house!

It's due to two things. First I'm a monitor on a homeschooling board and I've been filling in for the owner the past few days while she's on vacation. That means I'm on the computer checking posts ALL the time (I'm sure Clover can relate) plus I've been hanging around the house. I'm firing my kiln, back to back firings, and have to be around to flip switches and make sure it doesn't burn anything down... so I have time to kill. I probably ought to be doing laundry but let's face reality, who need clean clothes? I'll just wear them and cover them with clay again. Originally Posted by MiniMaxx

So for the past couple of days I'm close to the computer. On Wednesday that will all change, not only will I be back at the wheel (much more time consuming and fun) but my grandson will be here and frankly folks, you can't hold a candle to a precious 4 month old grandson. I'll be off making goo-goo face at the boy, not posting.

Well, they were packing up all the gear when I got home so I asked what the shoot was all about. The answer explained it all. Turns out they were shooting commercials for the Playboy Channel. Sooo.... all of you who subscribe to the non-PC PC can look forward to a new ad featuring a shiney CR/W MC in the near future!!Originally Posted by Johnna

I currently live in Longmont. We've had several movie sets come to town. Seems like once a year. Ah yes, Prospect. It basically looks like a movie set in that town. Made to look like an old town with some industrial features too. Flat roofs, white picket fences, etc. It's a mish mosh and people pay a half million dollars to live there. Geeezzz....Basically you ARE living in a movie set.

Yes, it is somewhat like a movie set. Some of us call it "Toon Town". Drive around the neighborhood and you may see that there are about a half dozen or so of your fellow motorers that live here. I'll bet we have the highest concentration of MINIs in Colorado. For that extra toon town feel, take a drive around Incorrigible Circle, you will see the Wallace and Gromit "Swat Team" mobile complete with furry bunnies on the roof. (I'll post a picture)
Incorrigible Circle? "What kind of a street name is that?" You might ask. We also have Tenacity Drive, Neon Forest Circle, Hundred Year Party Court, Tempted Ways, Ionosphere Drive and, just for good measure, Half Measures Drive.

That sounds like what you'd get if you let the NAM Off-Topic All-Stars name the streets!
So, does MINI think that people who watch the Playboy Channel are the folks who drive MINIs?
Or are they trying to recruit more of "those" kind of people?

The original

There are a couple more pics on my gallery.

The commercial is being created by the Playboy Channel for themselves. I was relieved to discover that MINI had nothing to do with it.Originally Posted by batgirlwildcat
