Is the parking alert really necessary in such a small car? I mean, it seems like a neat option, but I am wondering if I need it.

Also, do you need the nav to have the parking alert?

Hello Puffs and welcome to MCO!!!
Whether PDC is necessary or useful in a MINI is probably very much a matter of personal preference. I do not have it, and do not miss it. The car is so small, and the visibility so good, that I have a great feeling for where the rear end is.
The one tricky situation I am faced with when parking is this: I live in a town with some VERY high curbs. In some places, they are well over 1 foot high, maybe 18 to 22 inches! When parking I have to be very careful not to scratch the side of the car, and that is something PDC would not help with.
In my very personal opinion PDC is not really needed. If you have a hard time parallel parking, then it may be worth it to you!
Cheers,
Markus

I don't have it, but I can see how it helps. Not necessary, vut if you have the money...

i think it's kinda silly.

just turn your mirror out and down and you'll see the curb. it only takes one curb-check to make sure you don't do it again

What is this "search" of which you speak? I have memorized all MCO threads for the past 53 weeks.

(try PDC as the search term)

Click the search button on the right....the one next to New Topic and Email to a Friend. That's the one to search the forums.
