I have just taken delivery of my Cooper with the visibility package and I have noticed that the diagonal heater line on the rear side window (nearest the drivers head) has a small break in the middle. Dealer cant help me yet. Has anyone got the same "fault"

I don't think the '02 had a visibility package.

Do you have the nav system? If so, that line is your radio antenna.

wkndrcr is correct. This is the radio antenna on cars with the NAV system. However, Gud999 you must be in England, because it is in the rear passenger window here in the states!

If you are indeed in the UK, then the diagonal wires in the rear window on the right side is radio aerial!

Visiblity opiton= £170 (bout $250 i believe)

Heated front windscreen
Auto dip interior mirror
Rain sensitive auto windscreen wipers

I am debating whetehr to get this or not, it doesnt cost much and a heated fornt screen is the best thing in the world! no more icey windows! But my only concern is the known problem of mini's being succeptable to stone chips, and i would imagine the cost to replace is expensive. Prob get it anyway tho, insurance can replace it for me.

I have an 03 MCS, and at that time there was no visibility option.
However, I got the auto dim mirror and rain sensing wipers separately, so it is the visibility package without the heated windshield, I believe.

I got a stone chip in my windshield and got it fixed. WHile waiting for the fix, the receptionist at the glass place looked up the MINI (she had never seen one), and said that on the after-market there were two windshields, one WITH rain sensing wipers, one W/O RSW, and that the one WITH was more than twice as expensive. I am not sure that is entirely correct, but in some ways it makes sensoe, as the rain sensor appears to be integrated into the windshield glass.
NE1 know more about this?
Cheers,
Markus

Thanks Mini2go I do have sat/nav (with the sharkfin aerial) but my salesman Don of Liverpool , is a really helpful guy and has taken the touble to find other cars with this system and all have the same "split" in their wires. Are these wires, (offside rear glass in UK). heater cables or an aerial?

The sharkfin aerial is for the SatNav only. The wires in the rear window make up for the displaced radio aerial.

To be sure, they look very similar to heater wires, but over this past winter, I can assure you they didn't melt any ice/snow!

Thanks again, you have answered my question spot on, incidently the sat/nav gives instructions like "turn left in ten yds"and is said to accurate to 5yds. It makes you think how accurate the military system is.
