One week . . . !

I'd had my MINI for one week before taking it on a business trip to Indiana. My hotel was right across the street from the local police station, but my second day in town I woke up to find my BRAND NEW car -- which I had parked in a well-lit spot immediately outside the front door -- had been carved up with a blade of some kind. Extensive paint damage to the boot and one side. It was horrible.

Remind me again what purpose this thread serves? I had almost forgotten this miserable incident, but now it's fresh again! Aaaarggggh . . .

Picked up in Jan and enjoyed six months ofincident free motoring. Thats when things changed for the worse, I was rear ended and exactly six weeks later rear ended again. Nine days after being rear ended for the second time a SUV ran over a shoe on the interstate which hit my bonnet and dented it and broke my hood scoop.

I bought my 03 Mini pre-owned. Two weeks after I got it, the weather stripping above the windscreen began to come off. I put it back in place but it creeps out of the channel every other week. Six months into ownership the dreaded rock chip on the windscreen, lower passenger side. No spread so far.

000046 Miles

Check out the latest issue of Roundel, letters section (BMWCCA magazine).

A salesmen at Otto's BMW dealership (where I bought my MINI) ordered a brand new 2006 M3. He was driving home after taking delivery, and got hit from behind and vehicle was TOTALLED WITH ONLY 46 MILES on the odometer!

Wife entering busy freeway....traffic stopped...guy in 2006 F250 on Crack ran into her......I got there before the cops....Houston cops took them 3 hours. He's lucky he only went to Jail. Took his keys so he couldn't flee.

I was sitting in my downtown Dallas office and my 2-month-old MINI was at the park-and-ride far away. I noticed a little cloud off on the horizon. It got bigger. And bigger. Soon, in the afternoon heat, I was looking up out my office window to see the top of that cloud which my now was massive!! It was.........OMG ............off in the same direction as the park-and-ride!!!! I sat there helpless, knowing for sure it was pouring rain on my nice, new, clean MINI.

I got to the train station that evening and the car was dirty...the rain was long gone by then. The next day when I washed it.........yikes!!.............hail damage!!! .

Found a local, MINI-owning PDR guy who got my MINI all fixed up ...but I have stalked every major storm event since that fateful day.

Almost six months to the day from when I picked up my Mini. I got rear-ended in down town San Jose last month which necessitated the replacement of the rear hatch, rear bumper facia, the rear sub-bumper, and some in-boot body work.... oh, and re-painting and re-badging. I get it back tomorrow: maybe. Plus I get to take the offender to court as they refuse to acknowledge that they hit me m-f-ers: thank the powers that be for police reports and witnesses! I really miss my Mini: rental cars SUCK!
I'm down ranting;-) Can't wait to be motoring again!!!!!!!

One week

Wife is backing the MCS out of a parking space. I noticed the shifter didn't seem to be over to the left far enough and ask, "are you sure it's in reverse and not 1st gear?". Got a semi-snotty "Ya, I'm sure," in reply. Looks back, takes foot off clutch, hits the gas and...*crunch*. 1st gear right into the concrete curb at the head of the parking space. Curled the black plastic part of the air dam under, but amazingly the plastic tabs gave way so it didn't drag the bumper cover or black mesh grill down with it. Luckily an easy fix.

Her pride took a worse beating than the car. One things for sure, I don't think she'll ever make that mistake again.

While driving home from the dealership when my Mini was brand new my AIRBAG light came on. So I would estimate my 1st bad thing happened after about 5 miles of ownership (took 2 trips to dealership for them to finally replace my seat belt latch which was causing it)

Wow - some scary stories here. I've been driving my 2005 MCS since May 2005 and have 17,000+ miles on it - nothing bad yet! There's a tiny round spot, like a bolt mark, on my rear bumper (probably from parallel parking at school) but it is barely noticeable. I have a small scratch on the speedo clear cover - again, not really noticeable.

I have had my checkmate for 3 weeks now and the rear MINI emblem just got stolen! The criminal left a couple of small scratches...they could have been worse. I feel so violated!!!

Nothing bad happened to my 05 Hyper Blue MCS for the first 18 months, then while I was sitting at a gas pump with the engine off, a huge truck cut the corner too sharp, hit my Mini and pushed it sideways about a foot. Incredibly there was no body damage because the truck only made contact on the right front wheel. Tate Mini in Annapolis MD replaced the wheel, strut, lower control arm, steering knuckle, and did an alignment. Total cost: about $1600. Now it's as good as new again

After nearly 4 months, my baby was doing okay til some one took a screwdriver to my white wheels. "sob". Still runs like a top though. No mechanical problems.
