Went to Chicago on business.
Picked up car Thursday night.
Left Friday 2am to drive back to CA.
About 5am (3 hours!) I hit a large cat on the freeway. Over 3k damage into 3 hours of a 30 hour drive. ARRGGGHHHH...
BTW, color matching sucks.

Sean. :(

Birds

First I barely swiped a curb while backing into a p-space-1 month.:impatient Then within the first 6 wks I have hit two birds going about 70mph, one didn't move off the road quick enough, I wasn't really looking at the road. Then one flew out of the bushes, too fast to swirve, what's with these birds here, I have never hit anything driving until now.

Rear ended after only 13 days of ownership I remember reading this thread before taking delivery and thinking to myself "I hope I don't ever post in that thread!" D'oh.

Got mine Jan 31, 05. Drove it home across country, through a snow storm in Kansas without a scratch.
First day back I drove it to work and some @#^(%&#(!#$ kids used it as target practice - put a star in the windshield and a nick on the bonnet and the roof.
So the answer would be - about a week.:impatient

About two weeks after I got it I bought a bunch of cleaning supplies from the auto store and on the way home half a bottle of window cleaner spilled in the boot. It even ruined an entire box of swiffer dusters...

My wife got a ticket in her MCC on the way home from the dealership the day we picked it up. Does that count?

Mine had the dreaded '05 belt squeal that started in the first 150 miles, and the Xenon leveling sensor cable rubbed itself into a short circuit on the DS drive shaft boot in the same time frame - both fixed at about 250 miles when I figured out what both problems were. No problems in the one year since

Gotta flat on the way back to SF Bay Area from MINI of Murray in SLC. At first, I thought it was just a false alarm, but I checked the air pressure, and the was ZERO air in the tire! I drove on it at 70-80 mph on it like that for about 60 miles. Luckilly, it was on a Saturday, and I got it repaired at a local tire shop. Funny. I drove around for 8 years in my 3 Series and never had a flat. Go figure!

Picked it up last year just before Thanksgiving after a 6-week order waiting period, REAR-ENDED by a City BUS Saturday morning, it may be a total we will see. It took quite a HIT with me and my infant daughter in her car seat in the back.

Road Gator on the interstate, doing about 65 in traffic, no where to go except over it, took out the lower black part of the front air dam, didn't mess up the bumper cover, self rerpaired for about $40.00

I had my 03 MCS for 8 months before she was totalled by a passenger van that pulled out in front of me at an intersection.

After two days and ~200 miles the power steering failed on my '06. Turned out that a hose failed, and it was something that the techs at Classic had never seen before. Had to be either a defective part, or improper installation at the factory.
