Search..... And ye shall find...

over a zillion threads on the subject. Me? I'm on windshield number three.... 73,000 miles on the car.

Mini windshields crack, PPG windshields pit. Choose your poison!

I was just on my drive home from work last week when I took a small rock to the wind shield just below the wiper (yes between the wiper and the metal surround...the odds). Anyway, I didn't think much of it as these things tend to happen too often.

Well, to my horror, a crack started to run only a minute or so after. The remaining 10 minutes of my drive I watched it grow an additional three inches. It's now over a foot long. I was beside myself but then again, I knew that the MINI glass isn't the strongest of stuff, coupled with the fact the glass sits rather upright. Oh well

I was on the way up to a track day last saturday and while on the interstate I heard a rock hit the windscreen, near the bottom and in between the wipers. I didn't think much of it at the time, and thought to myself that it was good that I have the invisible bra to protect the front of the car.

Then when I got into the car after the track event (didn't notice a thing on the track as I wasn't looking at the windscreen ), I notice a little crack about an inch long. Oh well.

FL requires all insurance companies that write policies in this state to cover windscreen replacements, with no deductible - probably so that we can see all the strip malls and overdevelopment much clearer as we drive by them - So I'll get a free replacement, and I'll probably go with MINI glass.

Yep..... driving home on the freeway Tuesday.... didn't hear anything hit the windshield, but heard a subtle "poof".... windshield started to crack between the wiper blades.... of course, the temp guage showed an outside temp of 120.... gotta love Phoenix in July....
