Are Bugs attracted to all Minis or just my LY MC?

I have a LY MC and whenever it's freshly washed and waxed, and I finally get to drive it around... (you know, just to show it off a bit) I have at least 2 doz. of the Buggers on my hood, windshield, INSIDE my wipers even!!! :impatient Is it because of the way the MC is shaped? Or is it because of the color? Does anyone have a sure fire or semi fire way to clean off the bug gunk? Or is there an accessory to deter the devious 'sects? HELP!

It's liquid yellow! And yes, I believe you when you say they like yellow. My poor baby has smears of bug on her most of the time.

Yeah, that happens. I don't know if the bugs are attracted more to the yellow, or just that they show up better after they splatter.
You'll either get used to it or develop one of those carwashing compulsions that seem to be so common with MINI owners.

They're attracted to the yellow when the car is standing still (I always seem to have bugs lighting on my yellow Miata), and to the brick-like shape when it's moving.

I have this problem with my liquid yellow too. I assume most MINIs have this problem but maybe it's exacerbated a bit by the fact that they just show up better on the yellow paint as others mentioned. But I don't doubt that bugs are attracted more to the yellow color. It looks like a giant flower!

So much have I noticed the problems with bugs that the other day while washing my car I thought of the perfect license plate (too bad I just bought vanity plates a month ago): BUG ZAPR.

Yellow and Bugs

When I wash my "Slingshot" Yellow truck they are on it before I can even dry it. I end up smashing them with the towel which kind of defeats the purpose of washing it.

Its probably because the MINI has the aero dynamics of a brick.

Also, some bugs are attracted to yellow. One thing I can recommend is a 3M clear bra. Its much eaiser to wash off.

I personally dont have any problems with bugs smacking the MINI.

Hope that helps.

I posted this elsewhere in MINI Talk ~~

Believe it or not Baking Soda. After washing the whole car, I sprinkle a small amout of baking soda on a damp sponge and apply to the 'splattered area'. Believe me driving through the rice fields north of Sacramento can sound like getting hit by a hail storm.

From the Arm & Hammer website:

Hit the road with ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda! Use ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda to safely clean your car lights, chrome, windows, tires, vinyl seats and floor mats without worrying about unwanted scratch marks. Use a ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda solution of 1/4 cup Baking Soda in 1 quart of warm water. Apply with a sponge or soft cloth to remove road grime, tree sap, bugs, and tar. For stubborn stains use ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda sprinkled on a damp sponge or soft brush.

So...let me get this straight...
I should be washing the car with baking soda, waxing with carnuba, and then use peanut butter to take off any wax on the black bits...

Everyone who knows I use peanut butter on my car thinks I've lost my mind...I think I'll keep the baking soda bit to myself.

Thanks for the tip. Now, about that 3M bra...does it hook in the back or front?

Thanks, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

My bugs are almost all radiator grill impact creatures. Guess white isnt' their color so they kamakazi the air intake, or do they like that super oxygen flow thing.
