2 Warranty Question

Alright you guys, my 03 Cooper is still under warranty (only hit 20k miles 2 weeks ago )

Now, I have a crack in my windshield, I believe due to the heat because she was in the garage and next thing i knew, in the middle, all the way at the bottom came across an L shape crack and ive heard warranty covers ur windshield.

2nd is, ive been hearing some crackling with some songs with Bass from 1 or maybe 2 speakers. Im not one to crank my music way high or have amps or subs in my car so i was wondering, does warranty cover this?

Thanks in advance

Yes and yes .... provided the crack in the windshield is a stress crack and passes the ball point pen test

Take pen and follow the crack. If its smooth, MINI should replace, If its got a small chip from a rock in there, they will not replace

My experience is that warranty does not cover windshield unless you can PROVE stress crack. The morning after I took position of my baby when I took the work crew out to show it off, there low and behold was a crack right under the mirror and heading left. I took it back to the dealer to claim foul and request it be replaced and he showed me right where a minute rock had hit it about 1" from the top. He said that they are so tight that if you get hit they will most likely crack. I put off replacing it for a year, during which I acccumulated 4 more cracks or "coke bottle bottom" looking hits.

In checking around it seems that the windshields quite often take hits. It sure is nice to finally have a clear windshield, but just cringe whenever I get behind a truck.

Speakers are covered under warranty. I have had several replaced already.

ahh thanks for the info. As far as the speakers then, do I just turn song X on and show them its crackeling (sp and even such a word? lol) and they say OK or do I have to some go through some odd method of proving that to them too?

This also reminds me of 1 more question. I got a courtasy oil change before my time was up but for the last 2-3 weeks, my oil change Mile Counter has been stuck I believe on 4550 or 4500 but it has not changed...They told me that once it hit 0 to have them come reset it cause they forgot but that number hasent changed in some time

No problem. It will count down depending upon how you drive. WHen you hit ZERO, do NOT reset it ... go back to the dealer and get the free 10000 mile oil change. They will reset it.

They must give you a free oil change once/year or when the counter goes down to zero

If past postings on this website are any indication, be prepared for a fight on the windshield. The "pen test" has been well documented but everyone has not agreed with the results (obviously only those that weren't covered under warranty. Can't speak from personal experience but, if you have to pay for a new windshield, get one made by PPG.
