This was not in the owners manual

The owners manual did not mention that any activation of the high beams on a dark country road will instantaneously spawn an oncoming vehicle.

It also did not mention that any attempt to utilize the cruise control will instantly cause the vehicle in front of you to apply the brakes for no apparent reason.

Just finished my second road trip in the Mini (coming up on 3,000 miles already) and I was plagued by both of these features for most of the trip.

I wish I could somehow tie the two features together to make the traffic in front of me vanish whenever I hit the cruise.

It also makes no mention of shifting into sixth gear creates instant C.O.P.

How about having to downshift and let the engine wind down because the traffic is slow and no open lanes are available magically makes Ford mustangs appear in your rearview?

How come it just so happens you find a great detour route home every day from work, with amazing turns to match the MINI's handling; that they pave it with gravel asphalt and close it down for 2-3 weeks

My wife and I do a lot of cycling on backroads. We had a great route planned out (well, it's still a great route) and last summer they decided to dump gravel all over several of the roads. Gravel + skinny bike tires = crappy ride.

The gravel has finally gotten beaten onto the asphalt by car traffic, so the route is getting nice again, but for a while it was horrid.

I find I need to set my cruise to 2-3mph lower then the speed I want to go to stop from catching up to the vehicle in front. Although the MINI speedo is off by 2-3mph this means I am then going much slower haha

The manual FAILS to mention that while Motoring with a group of Mini's. a swarm of F-350's and Dodge Rams will appear from no where, and try to cut into your group! Happens every time!

Living in the mountains, the Big gulps just can't cut it when trying to get over the steep hills to bug you, you can just imagine their gas guages dropping down as they try to keep up!.....Minis prevail!

True, but since you should never be talking on a cell phone while driving (especially if you're a responsible Mini owner), it's easy to just let the voice mail handle it.

They also seemed to miss including the statement "There's no such thing as a clean boot".

I don't care if you washed it 5 minutes ago and it's just parked. It's dirty already.

Hey Cydewaze when did you get your mini? I'm coming up on 3ooo miles and we had ours delivered 6/22. Can't keep out of it. We even take it out over the Mustang cobra convertible!

Whatever keeps me smiling!

I'm right there with you on this one.
Need to figure out some was to repel the dirt, but all that happens is more gets attracted to it.

Upon washing your MINI, you will find out that a flock of birds has decided to take up residance on your roof and use your MINI as target practice.

Mike showed up on 6/29, and I have to say I'm enjoying it more than I enjoyed my Cobra. Much more "guilt-free" driving, if that makes any sense. I'll also enjoy not having to give up driving it when the snow falls.

We like it so much, my wife has been talking about getting one for herself.

Other undocumented features:

Gas pedal made of pure lead. It takes a lot of effort to keep it from hitting the floor, thus negating any possible MPG savings you would have had from buying a small car.

I also think there's something in the paint that attracts birds to poop on the MINI. Either that or I just notice it more because poop on my MINI is extremely aggravating whereas poop on my Saturn... eh, who cares?

And the MINI ends up adding 5+ minutes to a lot of road trips. Actually, it speeds them up by 5 minutes but then we lose 10 minutes talking to someone about MINIs.

There's also no mention about the environmentally friendly black roofs, which remove dust and pollen from the air in large quantities. I know, cause I can see it every day. It's like a swiffer.

LOL, what's the pet peeve? If I was on a course I wouldn't answer it, never answered my phone when I drag raced my cobra But it seems to happen, I get to a good road and my phone will start to ring/vibrate. Never said you had to answer it, sheesh!

"You must first engage the cloaking devise just before shifting from 5th to 6th gear". It's on page 42, paragraph 6, check your owner's manual people....
