R50/53 Farewell to John Cooper Works!
Someone did buy the JCW name..... BMW did, and it appears that they're turning it into their "M" division for MINI.
All that is happening is that the JCW garage is closing, because the kits are available from the factory now and people interested in the kits go that route.

There is a bit of misinformation here.
OMG the sky is falling

JCW isn't going anywhere, they only sold the dealership for the cars, not where they make the kits

"... Mike Cooper plans on continuing his father's work of producing more tuning kits and performance upgrades for MINIs. In fact, as its partnership with BMW strengthens, one might expect John Cooper Works to become MINI's own AMG- or SRT-like tuning arm."
