Has anyone read the article over at Motoring File re the new paint process implemented apparently 5-06? I 'm not sure about this but my first reaction is not good. Apparently the primer coat is eliminated and the paint is never baked. Maybe I'm paranoid since I just ordered last Friday. Anyone who's car was built in May care to comment on their paint?

 

Don't stress too much. Worst case is that you'll have to repaint it every couple of years.

 

I noticed some rough paint on the rear bumper by the grill area. Looks like they were very slopppy and rough.

I am pleased with the rest of the car... just not there.

 

I doubt the new process will be any cause of concern. There may be theoretical advantages or disagvantages here and there, but in the end I'm sure it'll be fine.

 

I would be concerned... sorry to say. Seems like this is a time saving/cost cutting procedure for the benefit of the manufacturer. I would also be concerned that this is a NEW procedure. I am not trying to scare you... but it sounds like the bean counters are in control.
But then again... maybe its all new and improved....
The paint on my 05 MCS is very well done.. One of the better paint jobs I've seen from the factory...

It's okay if it's a new paint process....Mine is an 02 and it's already rusting in the door sills so anything is and improvement....
