Glad to hear you're all OK... Painful pictures, but I'm glad the car did its job and kept you both safe.

The more I drive my Mini, the less I miss my motorcycle, ESPECIALLY after seeing things like this...

Glad you are OK. MINI's definately do their job when things go bad. I just got my car back ofter three months in the shop with what appears to be lesser damages than yours.

I asked many times for my car to be totalled because of concerns over frame, axle, steering gear and transmission damage. My insurance refused time and time again. They should have listened to me. They went ahead and fixed the car, and German Motors Collision Center in San Francisco did a magnificant job. I took the car up to the mountains last weekend and did they Hwy 49 twisties and the car handled perfectly. I am happy with the rapair work.

The down side for the insurance company, and I find perverse pleasure in this. The final repair bill was $500 more than my original sticker price 3 years ago

Push hard for a total. A MINI is pretty tightly put together up front, and when one area gets hit, the energy is dispersed all over the car resulting in lots of hidden damage. Do your Insurance company a favor, save them some money and get yourself a new car.

Good luck

I just walked safely away from my wreck. Nowhere near as much visible damage to the car and none to me... but the heartache lingers on. My greatest sympathies to you and get a lawyer, please!

That just totally blows... so sorry to read about it. I live just north of where your accident happens and ever since I heard your story, when I pass by that area, I get sad.

Any news on the insurance company's decision?

Wow. That looks painful. Especially the fact that it was so much of a side impact. Not a lot of room for those type of hits. Glad to see another MINI owner walk away from a wreck. Hope things work out.

Not trying to upstage anyone, but here's what's left of my '04 S. This one required a nice helicopter ride to the hospital. Apparently, MINI's do not make good tree removal equipment. Who would have thought.

We passed you that day coming back from FLA! (MC IB/W, Roof Rack). We tried to stop but the traffic was moving to quick. We have often wondered how ya'll made out after the accident. Glad a hand was the only human breakage. Has the S been replaced?

I remember you guys passing by, I think that I even gave a .

So I guess this is the offical last "update" on Gunner.

Insurance totalled him out after we reached the 70% of value mark ~ $17,000+.

Insurance and I have negotiated a price that I will be happy with. And as soon as possible I will be purchasing a new or new-to-me MINI.

Gunner was hauled off on Wednesday to become an organ donor.
He's currently at auction. I hope he fetches top dollar for his life-saving skills.
You can watch his auction here:

As for Rob, the dog and I: I'm back to normal. Rob's cast has been removed and he has to tape 2 fingers together. And the dog, well its like it never happened.

thanks to everyone for all the lovely messages of concern. this is one hell of a community and i'm glad to be a part of it.

thank you again!
hallie
