Amazingly enough she used the wrong word. The Hummer Weighs 3x as much as the MINI

I've always wondered what the actual percentage of these "Super Urban Vehicles" owners actually take their behemoths off road. Oh but i guess parking-curbs count as 'off roading'. Did you know you can actually buy spray-on-mud for your SUV! Ha!

Oh my sides hurt. You don't need to make fun of them. They've already got that covered. Great video! Such a rugged machine!

COME ON, guys...

We're talking about the ULTIMATE machine here... let's have a little RESPECT!

First of all, you should have apologized to the HUMMER MASTER just for parking next to them. You know better...

Let's all stop questioning divinely-appointed drivers of these fantasic and environmentally friendly vehicles. After all, they're holding all the cards, not us. Accept that we cannot ever be correct. They control these beautiful beasts, nature and subsequently, the whole planet.

Either accept it and BACK DOWN, or get us all killed... :impatient
or join them and become a master of the boundless hummer.

GO HUMMERS!!!!!!

The FUH2 link was already posted... I was thinking that this exchange would have made a GREAT video for that site. It would be worth asking her to repeat her proclamations for the camera. Man.

Not *ALL* Hummer owners are bad....

(I took this in a fellow NAMers driveway...)

and I'd be impressed to see a $240k+ Hummer (4 times my car... lol)

Now that the REAL Hummer (H1) has been discontinued, I tend to think of Hummer as a body Kit manufacturere for Chevy products!

I tend to think that more expensive cars are less likely to give me a door ding. I mean, I don't worry as much when I come out and see a Benz next to me as I would seeing a Subaru or Geo. Unless I saw a little old person getting out of the Benz, then I'd be worried.

And as for this "real" Hummer business....I would venture to say that if the MINI had the same handling, aerodynamics, horsepower, etc.....I'm talking IDENTICAL performance and power, yet looked like a Geo Metro or Ford Focus, not half of us would have bought one. The image is a big part of it.

I was totally thinking about this!!!

Anyway, a little follow up: Just for the record, Hummers are going for $1500 BELOW invoice! This according to Edmunds.com. Pray, tell: Has anyone EVER heard of such a thing in MINI circles? Also for the record, Black Jack, my MCS, was specced out at $26k. I wonder what an '05 Hummer and my car, both with about 80k miles, will be worth in 2010?

Hey, all. Thanks for your funny and, as always, insightful comments! Definitely made my day!

Back in the fall, there was a thread on here with a link to a blog (I think) about this guy, or guys, who were out to show that the Hummer wasn't selling and all the places the dealerships were hiding their excess inventory to make the Hummers seem harder to come by.
It was VERY funny, maybe I bookmarked it somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Unfortunately, that (broken tie rod) is what can happen when you use parts that were not specifically designed for the rigors of off-road in an off-road situation. (Rock driving is one of the more demanding off-road applications - every one of those rocks was a potential for a broken tie rod.) Look at the H1 for examples of off-road part robustness (and purpose-built design - there are no exposed tie rods on the H1...). Sorry to say it, but the H2 & H3 are off-road poseurs. And for anyone on this forum that owns an H2 or H3, I did not mean any offense by the poseur comment; it is just that the H2 and H3 don't hold a candle to the H1 in terms of off-road ability.

More like a truck for off-road poseurs.

In some respects, the resurrection of the Mini by BMW into the MINI with all of the benefits and none of the challenges of British car ownership (electrical malfunctions come to mind), tapped a thread of nostalgia in the market (look at how well the retro Mustang is doing in the U.S.). It certainly seems to have paid off for BMW.

But Mustang is and was a very well-known car in America, people from 16 to 20 can spot any generation Mustang. Most Americans don't know what a Mini was or that the MINI is a "resurrection" of a car. Or at the very least they didn't until recently. Which I guess just shows how great the MINI's image and design is.

My brother has an H2, and the weekend he got it, we cruised downtown Nashville and got the same general responses I experience in my MINI....not flip-offs and scowls and dirty looks. I truly love both of them because they may not bring the same handling or performance or room, but they sure do both give their owners that warm fuzzy feeling. At least, some owners.
