Looks good. Like the JCW or ( really called the Aero kit ) side skirts on #211. The MC40 with the JCW Tuning kits are quite rare.

Just finished installing: AUX Cable, Schroth H seat belts, Rennline Tow Hooks, 50 year anniversary decals, "My other car is a MINI" decal, applied "Angry Eyes" decals, fixed one of the driving lights, detailed the interior, and took it for a drive...

I'm waiting on a box from .... Shhhhh... ECS ....

Motor on!

Noticed what is wrong with this picture... the JCW Aero side skirts do not have the Black trim... Anyone know what the normal paint process was for these, or should I just use something like Dupli-Color Custom Wrap Removable Coating.

Box arrived... I'll be installing the MC40 Valve Stem Caps, Commemorative Plate... and a few other nick-nacks.

Motor on!

I believe its the same paint used for the front ( JCW ) Aero bumper. Special textured paint paint.

Let my neighbor use McForty yesterday, her R52 is in the shop and she is 2K over her Service for her R56, so I'm being the nice guy and letting her take one of mine...

She told me the SEL came on as she was driving home so she didn't stop for gas...

So McForty sits with an empty tank and a SEL... so I let her borrow my R52... if she breaks that one she can walk... (grin).

Followed the link, didn't find the reference to the "Special textured paint paint"...

I'll see what I can find.

Next question...

Has anyone tracked down the Red Leather Dye?

I need it for doing some touch up work to the seat bolsters.

Here is a photo with the Rennline Tow Hooks, the MC40 Valve Stem Caps, Commemorative Plate installed.

I need to put the magnetic numbers on and take a few glamour shots of the car with a nice back drop.

R90 anthracite wheels deal
I just bought a new set of the original R90 Anthracite wheels on eBay from Mainline MINI in Philadelphia. BMW has cut the price to clear these out and these were $229 each including shipping so $916 for the set of four. Not inconsequential but a pretty good deal for new OEM wheels. The auction is still up on eBay and now has a $20 off coupon so $209??

The eBay auction number is 141400458876.

Just thought I would share this as my original wheels look good but not great as I am sure others do also. The Anthracite center sections are in great shape but the polished rims have some spots where the coating lifted and some minor curb rash and to get these refinished would cost about $400 or so.

MC 40 Photos
Everyone on this thread seems to enjoy seeing photos in the posts, so I have provided 2 below. Finished applying new decals, number panels, a new "GB" insignia, and took advantage of having the decals off to polish and wax the car.

The problem with forums is that the information you need may be there, but it is buried in 100s of posts. Best bet is to go to the top right corner of the thread, click on Search This Thread, and type in the information you wish.

But, to be quick, someone on the thread recommended 3M, and I purchased my replacement decals from them. You can see them in some photos a few posts up.

I just hit 28k on my MC 40 this week. Other than a little oil leak this car is perfect. I am planning on putting it away after the spring. I love driving this little demon but I think I may be in need of a STI again. This time I won't make the same mistake as last time. I will be keeping the MINI and then buying a new STI.Now if I could put the STI drivetrain in the MINI I would be in heaven!

STI? Why not just JCW your MC40?

Your car has low mileage, I would think it would be a prime candidate for this...

Yea, the old tuning kit from MINI was NLA , but we made a kit with all the same parts . So you could still have it thats the one -1/2004. There is another kit 1/2004-.

Howdy, found one 10 days ago in Beverly mass. Looks new and ne owner who bought it for his daughter for when she visited from NY. Garaged, one little dent near back light. 18,900 miles and paid 11.7k. Missing the plate and stickers but it's in incredible shape.
Went to mini of peabody to see if they had a service record and to my surprise they did, car was purchased there, new tires last year and also flushed coolant and brake fluid. Original bmw battery. Had to take a look and yes 10 years and still going. Oil was serviced july 13 at 16,5k miles and the mini service rep said no need to change but I will. So happy I might burst
