Since I learned a valuable lesson a long time ago aboot running gas tanks to empty, and with gas prices the way they are, I tend to fill at aboot the 1/2 tank mark. Prob is, when my MCS gauge points to just over 1/2 tank, it still takes almost 9 gallons I've read posts, esp on M2, about the gas (petrol) gauges being so outtawhack, accuracy-wise, that the dealers have replaced the entire speedo units under warrranty. It's probably worth doing hand-calcs alongside the OBC at the pump and track the discrepancy.

Over 13K miles I get an average of 11% optimistic, ranging from 6-15% (likely due to amt of topping off)

The MINI has a 50 liter gas tank, and 8 liters reserve for a total gas tank size of 58 liters, 15.3 U.S. gallons.

The instantaneous mileage uses injector durations, so it you are running 380 or 400 cc injectors, stop early.

And I don't automatically assume that the pump values are correct. Seeing the pump readout spinning at three decimal places is downright silly and lulls you into a sense of unfounded accuracy. But is it? Would anyone tamper with the rate to make a buck?

Old habit of setting the trip odo when I fill up, don't trust gauges totally.

Especially now that my sending unit just died. Back to the shop once again!
