Pep'r is going to be surprised....

....I can not keep this in any longer!:impatient Pep'r is now on her flight home from LGA, on Tuesday we did not have enough time to get the Mini home and get Pep'r to the airport. But after I dropped Pep'r off at the airport I picked up a car trailer and got the Mini home into the garage. She thinks we are going to the dealer after she lands. When she lands tonight I am going to tell her I asked the dealership to keep the car in the garage because of all the thunderstroms in the area. She is not going to be happy. I hope she does not kill me durning the long ride home. I can not wait to see her face when the door opens.

These are some pictures I took of the trip to her new home.

And on a side note....I hauled many things from 300 passengers accross the Atlantic to 18whr loads of you name it...but non of them made me this nervous.

They match! I was thinking that if I go to MINIs in the mountains, I'll tow 'er up there with my Landrover Discovery. I have 5 people in my family, and we all dont fit in the MINI. Plus, I dont want to put the miles on her. If I do it, I'll use my Bobcat trailer, and haul her the 600 Mile drive.

Pep'r went nuts last night when we pulled into the driveway to say the least. I was able to pull off the surprise.

qwertmoneky, I would be very careful using an equipment trailer. Just because there are not any real good strap points on them. The trailer works great with chains and binders as I am sure you know since you haul a Bobcat, but when it comes to cars.....chains and binders would hurt something.

We have a Focus and I could not get a ride to the dealership to pick it up once. I rented an equipment trailer and it did not work every well and the car shifted on the way home. I had it hooked to four points with the three inch cloth ratchets. But with the U-haul type trailer or any trailer made for autos is a much safer way to haul our Mini. The over the tire strap worked great!

I looked underneath her when it was on the trailer and it only had two points for a 'T' hook in the front and did not notice the rear 'T' hook locations. If you are going to secure it other than over the wheel than I would only use 'T' hooks and not secure anything to the suspension. IMHO. I was a tow truck driver pior to my career and F'd up the suspension of a Benz really bad becasue I 'J' hooked the it in the wrong place....in fact there is no good place to 'J' hook a Benz. They require 'S' hooks.....but I did not know that.

I am thinking about buying a car trailer just for some of these long haul get-to-gethers.

Oh yes... I was very surprised!! And very excited to see her in our garage

I guess Mr. Pep'r hasn't told you that he wouldn't let me drive her to work today because of the threat of thunderstorms!!!!

He said "You don't want your first experience with her to be in the rain, do you? She will get all of that road muck on her!" :impatient

Once the bug bites, the infection sets in real quick. There's only one cure - you're gonna have to get another MINI for yourself!!!

I had to run my wife down to the MINI dealer seven days after I took delivery. She was convinced she needed one too. She had three picked out on the lot (2 new; 1 used) and was ready to deal. We work with a Greyhound rescue group and when she discovered that she couldn't get three Greyhounds in the back comfortably, she gave up on the MINI. Now she's seen the new MINI "Traveler" and can't wait to see how much room is in the back. She's also entering all the win a MINI contests she can find... We'll be a two MINI family one of these days...
