i am with Mini-madman....i to am buying my car from the same dealer as he...and have not once been gouged for pricing...

Although i know that this dealership you must sign an agreement to not sell the car outside of canada for aleast one year...so i can not see how some one from across the border could very easily purchase one and bring it back across...

Alot of the stuff i hear about dealers and mark up's in these forums makes me cringe.....if i where you guys i'd walk away if asked to pay anything over MSRP...it just seems to breed more greed...."shakes head""

my $.02....BTW i graduated with honours from Canaduck lumber-jack school

Well, he didn't buy a MINI, that's true. I'm not sure what sort of agreement you're signing, but a couple of things come to mind. First, and I'm talking completely out my Yoohoo here, but it doesn't seem that an agreement to not sell personal property could be legally binding. If you own it, you own it. It doesn't seem like a dealership should be able to dictate what you do with something that belongs to you and not to them. Is this common in Canada? I can't think of one example here in the States.

Secondly, my friend doesn't purchase cars for resale. He buys his own cars, and is willing to help friends do the same. It's his way to save money. He buys them and then drives them until he needs a new vehicle. He's purchased probably 4 or 5 cars up in BC, and has helped several friends do the same. Are you saying that the Canadian dealers won't sell to Americans? Is that legal? Again, I'm not sure what sort of laws you have up in Canada. Whether legal or not, it seems strange to my ears.

Well, now that we've verified that one stereotype is true, I have one more question. What the heck is up with Curling?

>>After having my name on a waiting list, and seeing the price gouing first hand, I have decided that I am giving up. Do you think that BMW relize yet that they are doing more harm then good? For those of you that can buy a Mini at MSRP, I would say congrats, for most of us however it means paying up to $5,000. over or at best having the car loaded with unwanted features. This also means realistically that you could afford a whole lot more car else where (ex. WRX, Or EVO Xll).Anyhow this is just my two cents, I look forward to seeing what you all think...
>>

I don't understand why people, whose local dealer is price gouging, don't check elsewhere. We do live in the Internet age, afterall. Hell, had I known about MCO before I put my money down to get on "the list," I'd probably have a Mini already (and not above MSRP)!

Seems there are plenty of options here if you really want the Mini. In Tennessee, there are 2 dealers. One in Nashville (+$2,000) over in Memphis(MSRP + 2 weeks waiting). I've read a ton of threads concerning the fairness of the Memphis dealership.
Good luck..Jim

>> Tracking mine in the lounge. Production date is estimated at May 10. Ordered through Crown MINI of Richmond (VA). Just MRSP, nothing added by the dealer. I messed up, should've ordered the Xenon lamps, tried to change it, but alas, to no avail. Can't wait 'til the end of the month!>>>>>>>

What's up at the end of the month????????? And if Production Date is May 10th, why can't you change to Xenons. You should be able to change that up until mid-April.

Try Morristown MINI in NJ. MSRP. I had to wait 4 months from deposit to pickup of my MCS. The wait killed me royally but it really wasn't that bad when you think about it. The car is being built for you overseas. Even without any waiting list it would take at least 2 months to get the order in, build it and ship it. If you REALLY want the car, I think you can find a way to get MSRP and wait a REASONABLE amount of time. But maybe things have changed in the last few months and this is no longer possible. But give it a shot first!

We got our MINI at MSRP, but we ordered it in late may. I have to say my Mini purchasing experience was second to none. No BS, no markup, no dealer add on's, and the floor mats were tossed in for free. Cincinatti Mini made it a pleasure to buy their little car. Here is our Salesperson, uncovereing the Mini when Barb went in to pic it up:

Knowing Barb didnt want her Mini outside, Amy had it in the showroom and under cover. Amy also took pictures of our car being unloaded from the transporter and gave them to us....
