much room. 2 - We are gas misers, except when racing the Dragon. 3 - Did

The article "Holiday Traffic Advisory" was in May 27's Washington Post, page C3. The guy can't draw a MINI very well.

 

There's not really a SUV-only lane, is there? Please tell me the oil lobby isn't that strong.

 

I don't know how things are in Boston, but the Hybrids here can ride in the HOV lanes with just the driver. They have special plates. From what I hear, they don't get much better mileage that we do. Doens't seem fair.

Some MINI-owners have the decal "1 less SUV" on the rear window. I'm not brave enough to do that. There are just too many SUVs around here, all with just the driver. Doesn't make cents to me.

 

I agree, that's total crap. One person in a hybrid is using much more gas than if they were carpooling in another reasonably efficient vehicle. It's yet another example of hybrids getting way too much credit for their marginal benefits.

What's the deal with the SUV-only lane, though? Or did you mean to write HOV instead of SUV?

 

The section is called Richard's Poor Almanac and he refers to the Cooper Minis, so I imagine his reference to SUV-only lanes really means HOV. Sometimes around here, it seems that all the lanes are full of SUV's, kindly refered to as 'Soccer Mom Vans".
