Odd MFSW malfunction

Hey. I have an 04 MCS with the MFSW. (Two-spoke!) The stereo control behind the right spoke will no longer lower the volume. It works fine to raise the volume though.

Anyone else had this? If so, did the dealer replace your whole wheel? I'm going to have them look at it at my next service in 3K.

Shouldn't need the entire wheel replaced

I've taken the 2-spoke MFSW apart. The "button blocks" are 2 pieces on each side - if that's what has failed it can easily be swapped out by the dealer. All of the the SW electrics are modular. The dealer will have to pull the air bag to get to the cables and connectors if neccessary, but won't have to pull the wheel itself. The rear blocks can be swapped out without even pulling the air bag!
