>>Haven't seen any VR's on the road in Indy. I also like the option of introducing new colors every year. My choice for a great color would be a bright metallic orange. Put a white top on it and call it a dreamcicle!!

I would not be suprised if we saw an orange MINI soon, orange is slated to be the next 'hip' color after yellow, which is slated to be the new hip color when the demand for silver starts waning...

(Yes, the auto industry knows what color of car you want before you do...)

i was curious about this - so i called Lisa a MINI- she says that there is no talk of discontinuing the velvet red- possibly its a big seller in other countries? it's not offered in either australia/ or italy (can't remeber which)- but i checked out their configurators and velvet red wasn't an option- but the new gold was.

There is a Tamiya model spray paint meant for R/C cars and airplanes that's called "dark red" and is a dead ringer for VR. I got some to paint my Revell MINI Cooper.

My Velvet Red/White MC is currently sitting on the dock in Newark, patiently awaiting a truck ride to the dealership. If they DO phase out VR, all the better. It'll make my MINI still MORE unique, if that's at all possible.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no die cast in VR sold in any stores. But, I do have 4 die cast MINIs in 1/32 scale painted in a deep burgundy red.

They were originally CR/W but taped off the windows and trim to paint close to Velvet Red
