R50/53 DOH! Not again!

DOH! Not again!

I've had my car for less than 3 months and get hit . I was stopped at a light and felt a jolt and realizing I've been hit. I get out and check for damage but cant see any but can feel the outline of her front plate. So we pull over and get a better look. She says 'I cant see any damage' but when you look at the bumper head on you can see the dent and outline. Its not really that bad more cosmetic than anything else but it's still there.

I asked did you see me stopped? She said she was going through her wallet and let off the brake.....What gets me is that she didnt even apologize. Then she says 'if you were cool' you would let it go........ What would have been 'cool' is if she was watching what the hell she was doing. She called her husband who came and took a picture and didnt say much. We exchanged info and will leave it too the insurance co. The good thing is that we both have State Farm.....so it should be quick. I hate stupid people.....

People not owning up to their mistakes is a pet peeve of mine, particularly when it causes others property damage and/or injury. Did you feel any whiplash at all? Sorry about the boo-boo...hope it's fixed promptly!

yea, dont be quick to jumping to a conclusion that your ok. Go to the Docs and get a checkup. Also, have your car inspected inside and out

thats wierd, a buddy of mine bumped into someone like that too. he was in his car behind 3-4 cars at a red light. the light turns green and he notices the light change, but traffic is still stopped. for some reason, just just starts to inch forward and...bump. he got out and appologized and everything. the woman in front of him was driving an older van and didnt notice anything on her vehicle that she wanted fixed, so she just let it go..

but yea, what makes you just...go without looking...

glad to know you got the info good. thats always nice to get into somone elses hands.

Sorry to hear about that! People make mistakes, or we wouldn't have insurance.

I've got State Farm as well, and on my policy card, it explictly states that in the event of an accident, something to the effect of, "Do not apologize regardless of whether or not you think you were at fault." Insurance companies obviously do not want to pay out when they don't have to. How else are they to make hundreds of millions a year if they paid out every time? How many Katrina victims have still yet to be reimbursed by their insurance companies?

That said, the whole, "If you're cool you'll let it go" tactic is soooo high school.

Sorry to read this. Definitely make sure you get yourself checked out. The same thing happend to me a few months ago. Better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully the INS Co will straighten it out and you don't have to pay anything since it wasn't your fault.

Admitting guilt or saying your sorry when involved in an accident should never be said. It can be used against you later on in your claims to insurance or in a court of law. The less said after an accident the better. Exchange info and leave it at that.

Always check the metal bumper...

If tagged from behind always look underneath and check the bolt on metal bumper. The skin you see can defrom and pop back with no obvious damage, even if the impact was enough to damage the bumper.

I got an estimate and it was for $826.00!?!??!?! These bodyshops make a killing. I swear if you were stand 5ft away you couldn't even notice it. I did check behind the bumper and everthing is ok. I should know I got slammed by a car going 30mph in my first car so I know what to look for.

I will probably just get the $$$ and live with it for a while........

Some people just don't care about their car nor anybody elses. "Its just a big metal can with 4 wheels".
I always wanted to install a trailor hitch on all my cars just to avoid these minor rear-enders!...Most of the damage would be inflicted on their vehicle
