So, does it come standard or is it an option? I'm talking about the roof mounted one. We are looking at a used '05 MCS and I can't tell from pics if it's got one. The configurator on miniusa.com makes it seem as though they aren't stock, but you can't add one as an option either, so which is it? I see pics of MCS with and without.

The rear spoiler on the MCS is mounted to the top of the hatch. It is not only standard on the MCS, but required. Believe me, I tried very hard to get MINI USA to offer a spoiler-delete option, but they wouldn't do it. While it is not difficult to remove the spoiler (and the third brake light isn't embedded in the spoiler as with many cars), the holes they drill in the hatch to mount it would need to be properly filled and then painted over. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble to remove it, though my opinion is that the MINI looks much cleaner without the spoiler.

 

so, if I see an MCS naked, it was removed. Ok...good to know. The car we are looking at has a black roof and the pics were taken with a cell phone from a front 3/4 angle, so it's hard to tell. I like the look of it and was going to plan on adding it if it didn't come stock.
