Rubber Boot Mat Extension -How can you use it?

Thanks to tips on this forum, I just picked up a MCSa at South Bay Mini in Torrance, CA and drove it back home to San Francisco. My wife and I are very happy. Hard to wait for the break in miles!

We were given free fabric mats for front and rear and bought the boot mat and extension.
Problem is that the boot mat extension appears to be useful only if you have the rear seats folded down. You cannot leave the extension in place when the seats are up. The seats will not latch.
You also are not able to put just one seat down as the extension is one piece.

Has anyone tried to cut up the extension so the seats could latch and also cut the extension so one side could be up and the other down?

Thanks for any info.

Martin

We normally keep the extension hanging in the garage, and only put it in when we are going to put the seats down to haul the dogs.

Hi and congrats! We should start a South Bay to San Francisco club

Can't help you with the extension mat as we don't have one.

I keep mine in storage, but I use it whenever I carry my mother's wheelchair.

The boot mat looks like it could be cutout so that you could use only one side like you suggest. You'd probably need to add some more velcro and maybe a screw or two.

I do the same as Califzeph - it's in the garage unless the seats are down.
I couldn't tell if the raised edges are there to cut out, or just there. Seems like it might get in the way of the rear shelf if the seats are up.
Maybe you can be the first to try it and tell us how it goes.
