R50/53 MCS, Cayman S
Just to add to the thread, I recently purchased my 05 MCSC BRG (MINI KC) from a coworker who purchased a Red Cayman. It only had 7500 miles on it so it was in perfect shape. He's owned several Porsches over the years and my MINI was his 2nd MINI. (Obviously he's a car nut.) His car is red and gorgeous.
That being said, he's said that in many ways the MINI was more fun. He said everyone smiled, waved and approached him about his MINI. I think most people are intimated by the Porsche.
I'm buying all his used stuff so maybe I'll wind up with the Cayman some day

Interesting you mention about the factory. In 1985 we bought a new 911 Carrera. I tried our hardest to get European Delivery but it just cost too much ... Porsche is about the ONLY European car maker where you have to pay MORE to get delivery at the factory!!!
What's with that.
Maybe someday, when I'm old and gray, we will buy another new Porsche and make it there ... someday ...

I don't know what's with that factory delivery either, oh come on Porsche
If you ask me they should even give you some additional discount, because they have less to do with your car (no need to get it on train etc....). But I guess if you want to be exclusive, you have to pay the price.Or maybe some day you could come to Europe on holidays and stop by in Zuffenhausen and take a new 997 Turbo for a spin
And then there is also AMG factory just a few miles ahead....
Motor on

Yesterday I was cruising on a motorway and saw a LY/B Cooper in front of me. When I drove past I flashed and waved and what a response I got. Driver and co driver smiled and then waved and flashed back
What a nice feeling it is to be a part of a huge MINI family
